Fantastic update
sbayless44 chapter 9 . 1/20/2017
I always did wonder about the class schedules, because they seemed wierd to me, like the total number of classes made sense, but still. Also, I wonder how many of the teachers use magic to grade, because grading papers takes forever, and all there homework is like a foot worth of writing minimum it seemed, OK, it might have been less, but still
justaislinn chapter 9 . 1/20/2017
Yeah, if there's one thing that bothers me, it's JK's random bits of unthought-out plot.
She keeps building the world over time, yet so much of it simply doesn't make sense!
I prefer to think that the teachers all have time turners, which very much normalizes Hermione having had one in 3rd year, and that's how teachers deal with their workload, assuming we are agreeing with this canon.
I also like to think that hogwarts had once been much larger before Harry's first year, and became larger after as well. Baby booming after the war and all, which is why his year doesn't really add up to the expected class size.
The student population really doesn't make sense when you recall how many kids were in their first year, but if you add in the (presumably) much larger upperclassmen years and younger years, once they arrive, it starts to almost make sense... almost.
I have a head canon that at least 50 of those extra students are apprentices and the like, studying to teach or gain mastery. Or kids who didn't graduate at their seventh year and decided to stay longer to take more classes they hadn't been able to take before, since not everyone has time turner perks from being bff to the boy who lived.

Other than all that, I also wanted to say on your math for the world population of wizards, it is logical but I don't personally agree with it. I think that different countries would have different saturations of magical people, yeah?
Britain is a small island, Caucasian and Christian are the masses right? What about the Spanish countries? Africas? Asia? America? Those are all very rich in wiccans, Medicane men, high priestesses, witches, tribal shamans, monks and just a ton of holistic medicines and spiritual practices. I think Australia has some native tribal people as well, so shamans and medicine men again.
The amount of those people is higher there than in Britain, magic is much more common for all it's still rejected by modern society and fallen out of practice.
I am of course taking real life and applying it, but as I personally believe that magic is science and vice versa, I feel like it's overall pretty close. Probably more magical people in the fantasy world than irl, but I think you get my point?
I know Britain has its own magical history and community as well, but I feel that just as the island is small, so is its significance in comparison to that of the rest of the world.
So basically what I'm trying to say here is, I think there are way more magical people worldwide. I just think that the definition of magic, by practice and blood would be different enough that maybe it wouldn't be coined 'magic' as practiced by British wizards. Magical blood is more widespread than most British wizards like to think, majority of people have just a bit of it, and it's when it becomes active in a muggle child you have a muggleborn. That magic didn't just appear from nowhere! It's just a recessive gene. And then same thing with squibs, they are still magical, just not wizards.
So if you're calculating people who are actively a part of the established magical community, you might be right. But I think there are way more people who aren't off the grid and practice on their own bc they don't agree w the ministry, or they don't qualify in the ministry's eyes as their practices are so different.
I have made my point long ago, I'm sure, I'm just rambling by now, huh? Sorry. I can get pretty deep into magical theory and world mapping;;

Now that that's over with, great chapter! I'm a bit disappointed that we spilled the beans on magic so soon, but it was what made sense for the current plot, so I can't be mad.
Write on:)

Excellent update
charlietheepic7 chapter 9 . 1/20/2017
Maybe the majority of teachers just don't grade homework? Snape only grades the Gryfindores so he can give them low grades.
xDarklightx chapter 9 . 1/20/2017
I like it.
Goldenfightergirl chapter 9 . 1/20/2017
Great chapter, but I noticed a couple of things. Like how you spelled Runes as Ruins. That's was what stood out to me the most, but besides some other minor mistakes it was a great chapter.

I am in a weird position right now. I genuinely like this story & the way you have characterised everybody but I honestly hate fics where James is not Harry's father.

You can see why I am torn between condemning this fic while also liking it for the quality of writing.
