So far I've enjoyed this story, it really is a great idea and I can't wait to read the rewrite and see where you continue to take the characters.
I really acknowledge and admire the wisdom you're showing as a writer. A lot of people don't like to look at weak points and are content to settle for an 'okay' job.
You seem really passionate about your work though and it's a great thing that you want to improve and do the best you can. Keep working hard and I have no doubt that the story will turn out the way you want it to.

To clarify, I will never use rape as a kink. EVER. Rape is not a kink, and I will never use it at such. If I put a rape warning on a story, it simply means there is rape in the story (by mention or action). But I will never write out a fully detailed rape scene for two reasons. 1) Rape is not a kink, and I refuse to let someone read what I've written and bastardize it so much that they would actually enjoy reading a rape scene. I simply won't allow it. 2) It would creep me out way too much to even think about writing a rape scene in full. I'm fine with smut so long as it's consensual. As soon as someone says 'no', it's terrifying and I'll have no part in it.

If rape occurs in a story of mine, I will only mention the important details and skim over everything else.

So I was thinking about how there's not a lot of Matt in the story and was kinda getting bumbed, so I started thinking about the vampire hunters they talked about and a thought hit me: Is Matt a hunter? I mean the dude followed him and Matt reached for his pocket, probably a knife or something, right? He's also out late at night. At first I thought maybe he was a vampire but then I was like na. So is Matt a hunter?
