Reviews for Red Cobra |

![]() ![]() ![]() This isnt a review just for the chapter, but a review for the entire fic so far. I think its very good, and definitely a different take on a crossover between Halo and ME. However, the UNSC as others have said would still outnumber the ME races in worlds and possibly population even if three quarters of the UNSC territory was still destroyed from the war with the Covenant. Also, Insurrectionist forces were reduced to a tiny fraction of what they were pre-war and in the lore they struggled and often failed to get support as everyone saw that the UNSC was the best chance humanity had of surviving. It also helped that the UNSC passed several laws in the lore that alleviated pretty much every grievance the inssurectionists had with the UNSC even if there was lingering distrust in the outer colonies. I also think it should be worth noting that as stated at the moment, the Halo weapons, armour and shielding as you have stated it are a bit underpowered. UNSC military material was designed to take a pounding from the UNSC's own weapons and later modified to be able to take a decent beating from Covenant plasma weapons. ME weapons firing sand sized pellets would not do much damage (even at the speeds they are going) to UNSC armour or shielding (especially as, as of the end of the war with the covenant, the shielding used by ODSTs could take several hits before popping and Spartan shields could take a fair beating from plasma weapons before popping). UNSC armour is also ridiculously durable. Marine full body (possibly semi-powered) armour used as of Halo3/4/5 could take a beating from UNSC ballistic weapons and 2-4 hits from plasma before failing. OSDT armour is obviously much better and could take a damn good beating and Spartan Mjolnir armour is obviously extremely tough. UNSC weapons are also very pwoerful. In the lore, a single bullet from a DMR could kill in one or two shots anything the covenant had on the ground other than Hunters, Brutes and armoured vehicles. The battle rifle could also evicerate with its 3 round burst any covenant ground forces except brutes and hunters. The assault rifle could also take them down very quickly, although less quickly because it used a much smaller bullet than the Battle Rifle or the DMR. These weapons could chew through the kinetic barriers and armour of the ME races as they pretty easily chewed through the covenant forces. Also, in space. I know you have already answered this following query by saying that the UNSC is very low on military ships and all its best warships are currently guarding the inner systems, however even out of date UNSC ships would have better armour and shielding than ME race ships. A single MAC cannon fires a round 100 times larger than a round fired by an ME races dreadnought cannon. A single UNSC MAC round hits the the equivalent firepower of a large thermonuclear weapon. Overall, I am really enjoying the fic. And I believe that, despite the advantages the UNSC has, you will make it work. Also, I like the focus on the more cloak and dagger side of things instead of the usual meet-war-politics path usually taken by crossovers. |
![]() ![]() Thanks for the Chapter, short but nice update. |
![]() ![]() It's just good of you to return in the first place. Well, Bronco's off to a wonderful start here. Please continue the next bit soon, you left just as things start getting interesting. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Nice chapter. Keep it up. Laters. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Cole and his group of traitors had it coming for them |
![]() ![]() ![]() just read this and saw your description about a halo ship not being able to detect a mass effect ship while in FTL but its said in game that mass effect ships traveling at FTL are detectable and leave a blue trail behind them |
![]() ![]() ![]() The authors understanding of weapons used in canon by the UNSC and the Citadel Council is a little leaving... the canon capabilities of basic weaponry is that a standard MAC delivers between 60 & 70 kilotons of force while the dreadnought weaponry of Mass Effect delivers roughly half that... the self-imposed limits on dreadnought construction result in the fact that a single flotilla of UNSC frigates could destroy every dreadnought in Citadel space while suffering fairly limited losses and destroyer and heavier ships could easily go toe to toe with the best that the Citadel has simply due to the massive advantage in offensive firepower. (The UNSC MACs mentioned are pre-war, more advanced and orbital MACS would crush Mass Effect forces... a single orbital MAC would almost be able to destroy any fleet the Citadel could assemble with the six second recharge time) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hi, what hapen? U not abandon this story is it? |
![]() ![]() Forget it. This chapter was finished killing off my interest in this fic. The Citadel is corrupt for normal events. Batarians bringing in a new species given how the Citadel has been burned by new contacts before would totally change things. You trying to turn this into a commentary about criminals getting off because the cop shot at them was pathetic. You wrote a fic that was not like every other xover. It was worse. |
![]() ![]() This is starting to get pretty far-fetched. Batarians are suddenly trading human slaves on the Citadel? Unknown species are not common in ME so for Batarians to be moving one around on Citadel idiotic on the part of the Batarians. That would seem much more plausible in the Terminus systems. You started this with a mini rant about how this fic was going to be different and yet you're using plot devices that seem more and more out there and effectively seem to be driving this to be the same as you complained most Halo/ME crosses are. |
![]() ![]() If they've penetrated the extranet as you've shown, then they should have all public info on mass effect drives and tech. UNSC should therefore be able to easily spot Citadel ships but Citadel knows nothing about earth tech. Techwise it is a curb stomp. I agree that doesn't mean Citadel might not win because Citadel has incredible numbers on it's side especially compared to an earth that has barely started to recover. AIs should give earth such a giant advantage when it comes to computers and that alone should give the humans an huge edge. This should be a classic battle of quantity vs. quality and as Stalin said, "quantity has a quality of its own." |
![]() ![]() Supposedly different from all other ME/Halo crossovers... But its yet again humanity the one taking it up the ass... so yeah done with this shit. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Interesting story, it's definitely different which is a huge plus. It's also really nice to see someone try to treat both tech systems fairly. I've rarely seen that happen no matter what the author may claim they usually have an obvious bias. |
![]() ![]() Never liked garrus |
![]() ![]() Unsc even without half of they colony, they outnumber citadel races check numbers |
