I never understood the need to tell those two best friends everything. Why doesn't he shares his underwear with Hermione and Ron? Maybe how many times he wants and who he thinks about when doing it.
It's irritating, unnecessarily dangerous for him.

And with this, Dumbledore is misusing young Harry as his suicidal puppy.

It has been nearly a year since I last read this gem. I remember thoroughly enjoying it my first time through, but the second time was even better.

It's such an interesting take on the dark arts to have them tied to some kind of "gift". It another reason to help explain why they aren't used more commonly in battle despite their apparent power.

The Harry/Daphne relationship is just wonderful. I do wish that we got to see a little closer look at the build up of Daphne becoming infatuated with him, but it was still an incredibly fun ride. She has so much sass, in a playful way, but she still has a kind soul beneath it. It's very endearing.

If canon Harry had decided to just accept his fate and train to become more then I can envision that version being identical to what we have in Cage and Key. It's so easy to see this Harry as the one from the books, just having made a few different decisions.

I thoroughly enjoy any time a story does not trash the character of Dumbledore. This story handles him so well.

Even though this story will probably never be updated again, I just want to express my thanks for such a fun ride.

Dude, I understand if you are busy and can't continue this story yet there have not been any updates for more than four years and no abandonment notice. So either continue the story or say that you have abandoned it. Don't leave it ambiguous.

has Harry actually stood his ground on anything at all? Daphne's just getting literally everything her way and gets to act smug about it too.

i hate it when daphne/harry stories use an authority figure to groom harry into being "the perfect gentleman" for daphne, and he goes along with it like a good boy
screw that, harry is a 15 years old kid, let him be rude to girls and say "no" when people tell him to kiss their hand and lift them out of their seat

That feeling you get when you are nearing the end of a good book where you are dreading the impending last page, yet you can't help but to continue consuming page after page.

I was already getting that feeling around chapter 12 because I knew that I did not want this to end any time soon. This was truly a phenomenal project, and I think I had a small grin plastered on my face during my entire time reading it.

Harry and Daphne were just so much fun to see together. You did not rush their relationship, and that paid dividends as we got to see the natural progression of them from lab partners to something more to caring deeply about each other.

I think that this is the first story that I have ever come across which has waited so long for Harry to tell someone about the prophecy. The consequences of that decision can be seen throughout this tory (in a good way). It further highlights Harry's choice to take everything upon himself and reinforces the notion that he is selfless. This also works quite well with how you feature the Dark Arts as having a certain addiction. It's another potential challenge for Harry to overcome, and it's another point of reference for him willing to risk anything to save those he cares about.

The lack of character bashing is truly refreshing as well.

There are so many positive things that I can say about the plot, its execution, and the individual characters.

I hope that you regain your muse at some point to return to this. Thank you for the fantastic story, regardless, though

Toning like reading a great abandoned story

This story is super awesome. And this is is the best Daphne Greengrass that I have ever read. Her character is so lovely and endearing here.
