Hachiman feels very reactive and passive for most of the story? I don’t know if I’m putting it correctly but it feels mostly like the plot is just happening to him up until the most recent chapter. Even then, it’s mostly a culmination of other people’s efforts. That’s not necessarily a bad thing- assembling and coordinating a good team requires skill and watching them work together can be fun- but it feels a lot like Hachiman just stumbling into success?

Maybe it’s just my strong dislike of misunderstanding and miscommunication plots shining through and biasing this revirw. It is understandable if that’s on purpose though. Considering the source material…

perhaps this started off as a comedy, but this better qualifies as a drama. too much angst. I really don't see Hikigaya destroying her hard work like that. Like ok, he broke her heart, but shattering her chocolate on the floor is just too much of a dick move. I don't see him being this brutal to yuigahama.
