Guest chapter 47 . 7/15/2021 Given the themes of this story, suddenly I feel really dumb how long it took me to consider whether some of the weirdness with Temrash is the result of him running on Tobias' hardware. Especially when we've been told repeatedly and explicitly that the hosts are affecting the Yeerks. |
Guest chapter 36 . 7/15/2021 The technology involved in Visser Three's Z-space mines seem like they could form the basis of a meteor prevention system in theory, I'm wondering if the resources needed to cover all directions is the issue. |
Joeli chapter 83 . 7/3/2021 So the game begins again. Phew! You got me gal! This story is so fun and so satisfying and so deeply though and felt and I love it and thank you. |
Pachimew chapter 83 . 7/3/2021 I haven't left a comment through this fic, and I still don't know what to say now, honestly. But this has been an amazing read, a thrilling story, and I enjoyed every moment of it. It's been an honor and a pleasure to read this, Duncan. I hope you're having a good day, and that you carry the pride you damn well *deserve* for writing a story of this absolutely stunning caliber. |
Macabre Kyr chapter 83 . 7/3/2021 YOU PRICK! But also you genius, you managed to capture everything I loved and hated in the original ending. It really was a brutal way to close the series then, and it still is now some 15-20 years after reading the originals. I don't have all the words I'd need right now to give this story a proper send off. I've been a reader since almost the beginning and I got to watch this story grow and grow and now I feel that grief of something magnificent coming to a close. So of course now I'll have to do a proper reread and then leave you a real review with all my love and congratulations laid out more neatly. |
blashimov chapter 83 . 7/3/2021 Excellent! |
Perfect Carnage chapter 83 . 7/3/2021 I may have been a debbie downer in my reviews but I found this fic entertaining and engaging. I just didn't want to keep repeating the good points over and over again to turn this into an echo chamber. Well, even if I think the Visser deserved to go to robot and regular hell this ending was a good example of compromise and a benevolent super computer. Reminds me of the ending to that Terminator rational fanfic, which is a plus. Hope to see you again with more excellent work! |
LucasTheWhale chapter 83 . 7/2/2021 I can't believe its all over. This story has been an amazing journey for me, and I am excited to read it all again. I look forward to following whatever you decide to create in the future. Thank you for the amazing work! |
Joeli chapter 81 . 6/29/2021 Is the last chapter going to be a hundred pages long? There still seems to be so much left to do! I’m kinda anticipating a Black Rock Shooter kind of a digital/imaginary mad-battle of wills in the merger to be the dominant mind. Or a paradiso completo. I’m here for any outcome. This has been one of the most enjoyable stories I’ve ever read. I love remembering back to what has happened and having my mind obliterated every time because so, so much has happened since then. Does the word count compare to the original series, I wonder? |
Mosa chapter 81 . 6/28/2021 Really incredible re-imagining of what was a surprisingly compelling and long lasting reference point from my childhood. I find myself torn at the end of chapter 81. If I think about the wellbeing of conscious creatures within the star systems known to the yeerks and andalites, I really hope that Rachel chooses #2 and reneges on the deal in order to destroy Visser 3. That said, I do hope that in the long run, extremely powerful conscious agents will be able to coordinate and avoid prisoners dilemma games that result in negative sum competition and massive suffering. I hope for that outconr so much that part of me hopes Rachel and the Visser will merge to create a potentially benign deity. But if it's #3, that suggests that every agent powerful enough to have a seat at the table must assimilate or be destroyed, and there's something profoundly tragic about that outcome. It means there can only be one powerful rational agent. I hope that it is possible for both Rachel and the Visser to be part of a positive sum equilibrium without utterly sacrificing their individuality. |
Perfect Carnage chapter 9 . 6/28/2021 This is for chapter 81 since I can't review it twice I was going to start on what a Villain Sue I feel the Visser became, but making his personality - the same personality 99.9% of ratfic protags have - why he's such an intractable monster and why he's about to die was a solar grade bright spot. Plus the bright future the Visser wants to build based on something as empty as efficiency would just be more him. Billions of bodies for one mind incapable of changing, all inside a Birch World doing nothing but optimising matter usage. Which really, is one mind on a Z-Space hypercomputer and nothing else left in the universe. Crayak might as well have won at that point. I like the merger option since option 2 is just astonishingly arrogant for a bargaining point. Hopefully it works. |
