Well, that was lovely. Your author’s note made me smile: the “Caine is a man of few words” coming in direct contrast to how you were bemoaning the length of your story. It felt like it was just the right length; you don’t need to apologize. Nice insight into his psyche, and how he’s had to disconnect his mouth from his emotions and his emotions from himself, just to survive. The idea that Jupiter is reconnecting his broken pieces is a beautiful one. I look forward to how Jupiter starts to try to wield her influence to make the universe a better place, seeing how she’s succeeded with him. There’s a loooong story there, filled with political intrigue, spiritual growth, and massive amounts of socioeconomic machinations. But thanks for this lovely, insightful beginning. :)
