It would be a matter of luck whether they got help or whether their *wonderful* parents fabricated a story about how their girls were unstable, prone to lies for attention, and a dreadful torment to their completely innocent, loving parents. What sorrow, what pity, etc. etc. etc. There's a reason that's the most popular explanation for how the Dursleys never got found out and prosecuted. Great chapter. |

| Right What Is Wrong chapter 3 . 10/26/2017 Dumbledore's a crazier sociopath this way than if he were pure evil. Jeez, Albus, I thought Ariana was the crazy one. Condemning someone to abuse FOR THEIR OWN GOOD? Not "for the greater good", but on the grounds that dodging frying pans is better than being spoiled? WHAT? And Harry's a "replacement Ariana", all right. Dumbledore did EVERYTHING he could to make him that way. Perhaps the Horcrux saved Harry's hide - Harry SHOULD have ended up like Ariana, but someone made it to Hogwarts intact. Hmm. Evil!Dumbledore is canon. The only variance is whether he's out-and-out psychopathic or, as in this fic, so delusional and narcissistic he thinks he's a good and kind person. I swear half the reason Lockhart keeps being made a pedophile in fics is that an Obliviation-happy sociopath is rather mediocre compared to Mr. "Raised Him As A Pig For The Slaughter", and so authors have to 'power him up' on the evil scale to make him worth noticing... |
