Reviews for Too Late
Writing-Gecko-Girl chapter 1 . 12/9/2014
All I can hear is the sound of my heart breaking. I must stop reading Finarfin stories, they are not happy.

Great story

I could have sworn that I've reviewed this story already. Shows hoe distracted I am...

Anyway, it's good to see a little of Finarfin for a change. Poor King - life hasn't been kind to him, has it? It seems that doing the right thing won't automatically make someone happy. Or lucky.

The little bit with the cooking contest was funny and light-hearted - just to make an even sharper contrast to what happened afterwards. Good drama.
Thirteen Black Roses chapter 1 . 2/6/2003
um...***total geek-out alert*** finarfin didnt have the silmarils. it was Eonwe who had them. finarfin never went to middle earth n maedhros and maglor would never have been near him at that time cause he was in valinor. *twitch, twitch* ok anyway that was a great story! im just a total geek! so woohoo!
Ithilwen of Himring chapter 1 . 12/13/2002
What a marvelous story! Disaster descending in an instant, discussions of everyday life suddenly interrupred by death. And Finarfin's thoughts that he is always too late in the end - well, he's right there. But if he'd acted differently, would it have prevented anything, or would he merely have been destroyed in the cataclysm that befell the Noldor, as the rest of his family was? His doubts about the One ring horribly true; after everything that has happened to him and to his people, the promise that Iluvatar will repair things in the end must seem a hollow mockery.
Indille chapter 1 . 12/13/2002
You know, I've never thought much about how poor Finarfin must have felt at all the events of Silm, but now you've made me think. He *did* have reason to be just as angsty and depressed as his brothers and nephews and kids, perhaps more so. And the touch about Galadriel not seeing him makes it that much worse.

Go you!
Finch chapter 1 . 12/12/2002
How to say a great deal in few words... The cookery discussion is nice and almost funny - and all of a sudden the reader is plunged into the depths of Finarfin's misery. The words 'too late' do sum it all up (even his repentance after the Doom of Mandos came too late: he should have turned back right after the Kinslaying to make it a true moral choice.) Well done.
The Former D45 chapter 1 . 12/11/2002
Excellent... This story is haunting and well-written. It is always a pleasure to read a well-told Silmarillion fic, and being original and dramatic only improves the experience. Well done! (Story added to Favorites List)
Deborah Judge chapter 1 . 12/11/2002
Heh. Noldorin men being matcho, showing off their cooking - will always get you in trouble in a time of war. Very good use of Noldorin masculiniy. Also excellent use of Finarfin, who certainly deserves more stories.
