I love how you interpreted the early canon relationship between Mary and Matthew in terms of the dinner conversation. All the hostility that was present in canon was just as present in this modern meal. I can't help but wonder about the looks Matthew gifted Mary in the flashback to when they were younger. I also am curious as to why Mary would side with Patrick openly against Matthew. I assume you will develop that as the story continues. I can't wait to see what happens when Mary and Matthew are forced to work side by side. I know Matthew spoke a big game at the dinner, but I imagine that there will be some learning curve which Mary will relish in. Can't wait to read more! |
