I adore the flabbergast at Harry usurping their careful plans to get it overturned - the injustice and discrimination rampant throughout their society, in whatever form it takes.

Like other readers I’m going to ignore the epilogue with the head cannon she stays with Flint and after her University sojurn takes up the Flint seat and does what she can. I adore Madam Shafiq’s advice about how she will keep fighting all her life and to find a tick to brace against - such a metaphor. I think your Flint and Granger make a great team, his implicit trust in her and the way he supports her would be a marvel to read more on as they do right be his lineage.

Anyway - thank you for the story. It’s been great to re-read it (first read in 2019!), I definitely enjoyed it more on my second reading.

Good story but she should have kept Marcus. Ron is a putz.

Yeah, whenever I read this I have trouble seeing how it would ever be good or healthy for her to get back with Ron. This chapter & the previous are why. Yes, he is justifiably angry, and not in the best emotional health from recent events. But he takes her agency away, and he is nasty with her. That kind of nastiness will come back at the worst times in a relationship. (Anyway, team-eventual-Marcus)

I love this story, love your writing. The only thing I didn't love is that I'm completely against Hermione ending up with Ron, lol! I really liked the way you write Marcus Flint - here and in other stories of yours - and how you humanize him - along with many other Slytherins. There's so much to their story that doesn't get taken into consideration, as far as family loyalties and expectations. So their too often untold stories color the way they appear in canon and, often, fanfic. Your ending is just maddening. I mean that in how Harry totally got handed his way because of who he was, not because of the rightness or wrongness of things. But I could see that totally happening in the wizarding world, for exactly the reasons Hermione points out. So really, it's the perfect resolution for the marriage law. And hit me like a ton of bricks (hence the 'maddening' comment). Love the wizarding world, hate the business-as-usual corruption. And kind of hate how Harry doesn't get why Hermione and her crew aren't celebrating. Totally Harry!
Anyway, thanks for a really great read, the kind that stirs up emotions! 3

Rereading this for the second time (that makes three overall) I'm thinking if this isn't the most beautiful piece you have written? I mean right here, the beginning of chap 7, the funeral, the picture of Hermione dropping the pensive orbs in her parent's grave? I know that feeling so well that it hurts, just having buried my mother as the last of her generation, the last one but me remembering my own childhood, sitting here with her photograph albums and the memories of memories not mine anymore, now she isn't here anymore to tell me about them...

Also, I think that was in a Dramione fic.
Too much time on this site over too many years does weird things to a girl's memory of plots!

I'm loving this so far- but I'm hoping there's a reconciliation between Hermione and Ginny! I love the conversations and closeness between the two in the books and in much of the fanfic I've read. If you don't have them reconcile, I understand. It makes sense after Ron's broken heart that Ginny would side with him.
I'm interested to see where along the way they both realize they have actual feelings for each other!

I'm so happy there is an alternative ending. Weasley's were such terrible, egotistical personnes in that story, I haven't yet digest Ginny tantrum and her marrying Harry ...i'll just pretend I haven't read this chapter!

Really, after such a beautiful story between Marcus and Hermione thank for the other fanfic (the only epilogue as far as I'm concerned )
