CMU chapter 23 . 11/28/2015 I came across your story and read it in one long haul. Such a ride! Normally I'm not much of a Bane fan but your take on the story was so original and well-written I even sort of started to like the character. Thanks! I'll follow. |
Anonymous chapter 23 . 11/20/2015 It's Bane. It's totally Bane. Even if it isn't him and it's some other scarred fighter... It's still Bane. Thank you for this wonderful work. I'm going to return again and again to enjoy your writing, and I think that's the best way I can show my appreciation for your work. I only reread my favorite novels, and I suppose your work counts among them now! |
Anonymous chapter 22 . 11/20/2015 "Such fire, such fire... I will regret you dearly." What a line. What A Line. What a way to end this strange, oddly beautiful relationship. Like, wow. WOW. Also, Selina took down several League of Shadows combatants. Like, that's super impressive and awesome. I know she's a thief, but, damn, she's also a fighter, too! |
Anonymous chapter 21 . 11/20/2015 Yes. Just, yes. Well done. (Scratch that previous comment, this is my favorite chapter.) |
Anonymous chapter 20 . 11/20/2015 Confession. This is my favorite chapter. For many, many reasons. Chief among those reasons is that the dynamics between Bane and Selina shifted. For the first time in twenty chapters, they're meeting on even ground. And that's something. Oooh, good storytelling, work your magic. Also, I love the impromptu nighttime visit from the barn cat. |
Anonymous chapter 19 . 11/20/2015 "Does she owe Gotham anything at all?" Apparently so since she went ahead and saved it from a cataclysmic, blinding explosion. Oh, Selina... You've gone and got yourself a conscience... I know it's been scuttling restlessly in the corners of your mind but now it's come out of the shadows and allied itself with Batman. Batman. Of all the bleeding hearts in the city, you've chosen the one that wears self-sacrifice in every fiber of his Kevlar-lined body suit. I'm somewhat disappointed, but any residual feelings of bitterness vanished when you stole Bane. Thief. :) |
Anonymous chapter 18 . 11/20/2015 "Bane loses himself in a long moment in what Selina suspects is a rather violent daydream." Oh my goodness. For some reason, this line just gave me the bad case of the giggles. I have no idea why. It's just so funny. So casual. Yup, Bane is probably envisioning gruesome, graphic deaths for each of those poor, unfortunate moles. A really bad case of the giggles, I'm telling you! Also... This line: "Disappointed? You wield your charms with as much skill as your weapons. You have been chiseling at me for a year now," says Bane. "Witch." And this one: "Those men are dead because of her. They remind her of the deer in the abbatoir. She doesn't know why she cares, but she does." So good. Soooo gooooood. |
Anonymous chapter 17 . 11/20/2015 Bane is actual just a very creepy and silent stalker. It's kind of sweet, actually. He blurs obsession with affection? That the desire to controlling Selina is the closest he can admit to having a special regard for her? Questions, questions. Why is it that reading your work always leaves me with more questions than answers? You don't have to answer that. I love puzzles. |
Guest chapter 16 . 11/20/2015 "I am grateful for the mask," says Bane, rising with a low grunt. "It keeps me human." How interesting! That's interesting with a capital I. Interesting. The mask reminds him that he's not invincible? That the very thing that makes him invulnerable to pain is also his greatest liability? That his mask is his armor, the thing that elevates him from other beefcakes? And that without his mask, he's like any other goon in incomprehensible pain? Hmmmmm... thoughts. Yes, I have them. Quite a few, actually. Man, you can really make your readers think. Also... of course, Selina steals shirts from Bane. Of course. |
Anonymous chapter 15 . 11/20/2015 I'm not going to lie. Those scenes in the abbatoir. Kind of made me puke a bit. Especially the part where Selina had to mouth along her braces to break free. I gagged quite sincerely. Also, abbatoir. I had to look it up. I understood from context that it was a slaughterhouse of some kind, but I Wikipedia'd it anyway. Yuck. And... Oh, Bane. How you betray yourself so! Careful, your sentiment is showing. Quick, hide it before anyone else sees. |
Anonymous chapter 14 . 11/20/2015 Oh, my. Selina's rather bitten of more than she can chew, hasn't she? Favorite line: "So," says Bane, standing before Selina, hands hooked into his vest. "Sleep, hunger, thirst... any other baser urges you need satisfied?" He. Hehehe. Hehe. Such feline satisfaction and smugness. And not coming from Selina, for a change. Everything is different when it comes to Bane, apparently. Will this man always be the exception to the rule? |
Anonymous chapter 13 . 11/20/2015 I loved Selina's confession about Gotham being her garden. And yes, it was a confession, right? It was a secret that she kept all to herself. "Does she owe Gotham anything at all?" Apparently, yes, yes, she does. And that bit with Bane's paracord. That was Very Interesting. All those little, inconsequential moments in other chapters where you references those tiny twitches of his fingers... were they in remembrance of this habit? Is Bane a fiddler? Oh gosh... |
Anonymous chapter 12 . 11/20/2015 Oh, Bane. Oh, Selina. Oh, my goodness. |
Anonymous chapter 11 . 11/20/2015 I like Judith. And I like the irony of her running a charitable organization. Curious. What is her debt to Selina? Must have been consequential seeing as how Judith is now responsible for the care of ten or so young girls in the squalor of Gotham... Very curious! |
Anonymous chapter 10 . 11/20/2015 "She hums to herself as she works, enjoying the puzzle." I really enjoyed this line. It reminded me that Selina is, first and foremost, a thief because she likes to steal from people. Rich people. She likes breaking into safes, especially uncrackable sages, and subverting expectations. Yes, she has moments of altruism where she gives back to her community, but those moments don't drive her awesome, stealthy cat burglary. (At least, that was my impression.) She doesn't steal for a cause, or for an agenda, or for anybody else except for herself. I love that. She's no Robin Hood... and I'm really glad she doesn't have that self-sacrificing persona. How dull Selina Kyle would have been if she wasn't a self-serving woman! The minute morality comes into play, she would have been predictable... Do it for the Greater Good. It's why I like Batman, but I like Bane more. One is always more predictable than the other. Character doesn't change much and that moral center never fluctuates... It's boring. Selina and Bane are the types of characters that makes me want to write, you know? Well, I guess you do since you wrote this work! |
