i did like this fic, i loved harry not taking anyone's bullshit. i just think think it wasn't as great as it could be. it was very list-like, just telling us event after event in sequential order rather than showing us with actual description and emotion in prose. it felt more like an outline to a longer fic rather than a fully fledged one shot on it's own. id love to see what this could be.

It was entertaining enough, but way too much telling instead of showing in the early part, such as when Harry is thinking about how he's growing fond of the basilisks and is enjoying caring for them, and describes their personalities a bit and actually expressing a desire to keep them safe.

But when that is being summed up you don't show him actually interacting with the basilisks through action and dialogue, to make it come true for the reader, instead it feel more like a summary than a story.

basically, show don't tell.
