intriguing

I liked the story but am not going to add it to my favourites. Since you jumps over the fact that your Harry is in fact a mass murderer and nobody really seems to care. Although I like the Slytherin Harry, I can't believe he would kill so easily, like a psychopath, whiteout any objections or feelings of remorse. Nevertheless I liked the pace of the story and the idea of using basilisk.

I enjoyed this immensely! Laughed my little chocolate arse off in fact. Why? Because why go and get yourself maimed when you can get your snakes to do the maiming for you? :D Not to mention the mental image of a double dozen deadly, den dwelling denizens sporting monocles was just too much for me and my poor Muses. I knew they lost the plot when they gave me the mental image of them all wearing either top hats, or little fascinators to go with the eye wear. :D

I found this to be lots of fun, and where some commenters might not have liked Harry's level of sass, I found it rather appropriate to go along with the level of stupidity, greed and shifty arsed double dealing that is pretty common, even in canon coming from far too many folks in the magical world. Yeah, makes perfect sense to toss an untrained teenager after a grown wizard that makes other wizards wet themselves saying his name, and expect him to win. 0.o

I'll put my winning bet on Harry and his snakes, thanks.

do you even have to question why he didnt use a basilisk? It could very well be Rowling fucking up but honestly, even then i would have done the same thing. Here's the thing, a basilisk is a glass cannon. Yes, its gaze kills and its a giant monster with one of the deadliest poison, but for all his weapons, it has a shit load more weaknesses. The biggest, the cry of a fucking roost. It litterally dies if it hears a fucking COCK (yes i say it). For another, its very tight skin would resist pretty much your in the case of horrocrux, in top of dying for such a pathetic thing, its too big or simply unpractical to hide. The only way i see this working is taking the enemy by surprise like you did with portkeys or warding against sound an area around the beast.
I can honestly say that the thing i liked about this was Harry using a simple solution to fight instead of the route everyone goes, like having him with powers granted by some figure or worse, doing like canon all martyr-like
