This was a nice breather chapter after the many fights.

During the scene Where Naruto and Hinata where talking in the garden...
Neji: Hiashi-Sama why are you suddenly sharpening the family sword...
Hiashi: I don’t know, but I sense a... Disturbance... close by...

huh, a Neji pre-development who is able to actual somewhat get along with and treat Hinata with some respect. I never thought I would see something like this. Maybe she managed to earn some respect from Neji.
the development with Hiashi and Neji might lay the groundwork for Neji to begin developing into his Shippuden self without needing the Sasuke Retrieval Arc and his fight with Kidomaru as soon as Naruto kicks his ass.
Though I have to admit that I'm not sure if Sasuke Retrieval will even happen.
NaruHina goodness is always welcome in my book. I'm hoping they get together in the aftermath of the war rather two years later here. Though I do appreciate the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 base Adventure mode campaign where its Sakura trying to get Hinata and Naruto to get together right after the war but fails in getting them together as a couple yet she does bring them closer and lay the groundwork for the eventual getting together of the two as a couple.
So Anko was experimented on with the Bloodline Experiments. Explosion Release, perhaps?
Ahh yes, Danzo's Danzo-ing. Makes you want him dead that much more.

So no Captain Yamato then if Anko has wood release.
An enjoyable chapter that is able to incorporate earlier plot points. I can not wait for the training chapters.

Yes Naruto's training is going to be great now that Hinata is joining in and all the teasing Jiraiya will do as well wonder if Naruto will start to realise more about how he feels about Hinata.

Like the changes you made to Anko's back story and looking forward to what the so called bloodline limit she got from the experiments is.

The wait was definitely worth it! Fantastic chapter to be honest. I think this was the best alternate Chunnin exam that I've read. It was for sure the best Neji vs Hinata fight that I've read. You have a gift! I'm really interested to see how this turns out. I'm ready to experience how Naruto and Jiraiya's relationship will turn out. Also, the Sakura and Kurenai situation is compelling. Well done. Finally kudos on showing how Hinata got better but still showing the prowess of Neji simultaneously. I can't wait for the next chapter.

I'm really enjoying this fic so far, but I am *highly* concerned about Kurenai telling Sakura her role is probably to be emotional support for Naruto and Sasuke. That's really, really, *really* fucked up.

Quote 1:

Quote 2:
"Kakashi is focusing on polishing the basics with you three, and this project aside, I agree with him. This will only be a problem if you stagnate, so try thinking on what kind of kunoichi you want to be and discuss this with Kakashi as often as you can," Kurenai suggested. "Still, what I mean to say is this: Your role, is to support your teammates. Both on the field and out of it."

Quote 3:
"Our profession isn't nice to us… you'll do and see things you never wanted to, that will keep you awake at night and even haunt you in nightmares. We need support from other people to help us keep going. Sakura, you have a family and you've led a normal life, but the same can't be said about Sasuke and Naruto."

Naruto fanon and canon are absolutely full of examples of Sakura being little more than the team cheerleader. It is by far the trope I hate the most. Judging by your level of writing, numerous edits, and seemingly complex characters, I can assume that you're probably not going down that path, but the whole passage where Kurenai talks to Sakura had a ton of red flags. If your intention wasn't to suggest that Sakura would be responsible for managing the guys' emotions, you might want to rewrite that section. (And if it was, I'll probably find out a few chapters from now and drop this fic, but I don't think that's the case.)

The amount of detail in this unfathomable. I can't believe it that I understood it and it's so good. I had to reread it because I also felt the anticipation that Kurenai had towards the project. i can't believe I'm only finding this now!
