So Sakura, Sasuke, and Kurenai are gonna spend the whole training period humiliating Naruto. Team 8 is a functional team, and we have to sit through four more chapters of exposition just to get to the most boring part of most fanfiction: the wave arc. Think I'll give this another shot around chapter 9

So does Hinata's musings in that flashback/dream mean that we will have to endure Naruto being dense toward Hinata until after the time skip? I mean I know you said that this was gonna follow canon with a bit of AU but I was really hoping part of the AU was gonna be their relationship's starting point lol.

My second thought is that Kurenai is a bit of a bitch...i mean i don't expect her to coddle Naruto but the fact that she is a sensei and didn't think about how her stunt would make Naruto less likely to trust her until after the fact makes me wonder what she was thinking.

I also wonder to this day why this team was ever actually made...I mean there had to be more to it than just the dead last needs to be on the same team as the rookie of the year and the best kunoichi...does how they will mesh personality wise really not go into consideration?

I know that this is supposed to be mostly canon compliant but I don't know...I guess I will never understand the reasoning behind Team 7.

This chapter was better. The plot jumped ahead with the age and timeline of the students, and we know that they're working with different sensei but unless I missed it, I never saw for what purpose they were doing it. To teach Team 7 a lesson? To learn how to defeat genjutsu? To see if Kurenai had the same opinion of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura that Kakashi probably did?

Kurenai did a good job, but she should have known when Sakura told her that Naruto couldn't do a normal bunshin and could make dozens of Kage Bunshin, that he had a serious amount of chakra reserves. That should have led to some different training.

The next chapter should be the other half - Kakashi with Team 8, and then the meeting during and after lunch. I'll be interested to see how you make that sound.

Okay. A decent opening to the story, but definitely lacking. Glad you posted the next chapter along with this one. Setups are nice, but development of everything else really draws the reader in.

This is interesting fic and could possibly be good... But I'm going to be honest: I didn't like the whole "humiliation of Naruto"-thing. I mean, I suppose it could be something that Kurenai would do, but... Haven't we seen enough of that in canon? It was annoying there and it's annoying here.

Nevertheless, I do kinda like the rest... So I will Follow your story and see if it improves from here on.

This is good so far. It could use a beta, due to regular misuses of 'in' and 'on', in that you sometimes use one where you should use the other, but I don't see much else wrong with it, so if you don't get a beta, that's fine, too. Story-wise, I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far. Here's hoping there's more soon.

I like where you are taking this story. Having different sensei teach the genin is a good idea. I also liked how the hokage is protrayed, much better than in the anime.

I have really enjoyed the first couple of chapters. The overall narrative seems to flow rather nice and the character portrayals are rather spot on. There were a couple of misspelled or a missing word here and there but overall it was rather enjoyable. I most definitely look forward to your next update
