Reviews for Chuck vs The Butterfly Effect
uplink2 chapter 8 . 4/29/2016
Great chapter. I really enjoyed it. I still think that Hannah was the most pointless character ever on the show but here at least there is some small merit to her inclusion. I know you also wanted to try and redeem Chuck from being such an asshole to her in canon.

But though Sarah not knocking on Chuck's door was a bit of a surprise it fits with her character and how it resolved itself did as well. All in all a very enjoyable read.

Yay! Happiness has arrived, love it! I also love the idea that Chuck & Sarah make each other better people. I think that was true on the show and you have captured that here in your AU. Each of them are such interesting characters on their own, each have their own strengths and weaknesses and together they make the other better versions of themselves.

Looking forward to the Ellie heart-to-heart - you didn't tease that without intending to write it, right? ;)

Alot of growth from the first story to this one. Can't wait for the next chapter or your next story

Ok, so it doesn't say complete but that end sure smacks of a curtain drop. And boy what a chapter to close it out with. This story was phenomenal. As much as I liked your first one, this one is just sooooo good. Definitely joining my short list. Kudos to you and PLEASE don't keep us waiting to long until your next one.

Love that youve got a Sarah who comes into Chucks life, changes it completely for the better, and still thinks shes not capable of being what Chuck wants or needs. The ironic thing is that by trying to leave him, the Sarah in this story is showing exactly why she deserves Chuck. Yes, part of her is scared of what being in a relationship means for her, but an even bigger part is worried about hurting Chuck...and for a character like Sarah, I dont think thats a rationalization, that really is her greatest fear. So she'd rather leave than risk potentially crushing him...

...but thats what makes her such a great character as well. Because once she gets to the point youve reached with your story, where she stops trying to figure out why Chuck wants her and just accepts the fact that this guy IS crazy about her, she really starts to embrace the idea of two of them being together. That dosnt mean everything will go smooth and easy for her, theyve got a lot of growing to do still, but this is the point where Sarah will fight every bit as hard as Chuck does for their relationship.

...have I mentioned I like this Casey, because I really like this Casey.

..great little nod to the pilot.

Finally I have to agree a bit with what another reviewer said about Ellie, and the idea of her deciding whether its best for Sarah to be back. I know ultimately Ellie will accept Sarah, and theres nothing wrong with her trying to protect Chuck, she raised him after all...but I also feel like a lot of authors portray Ellie as too overbearing at times (something Id argue shes not really like on the show).
If she does confront Sarah, I think it would be pretty in character for the more confident Chuck you created here to talk with Ellie and point out that he's not the same guy anymore. That as much as he loves her, this is his decision to make, for better or for worse.

...great new chapter overall, looking forward to next time.

Very well done as always.
I especially enjoyed the openness and honesty of Sarah at the coffee shop. That this is alien to her upbringing and training only makes her efforts all the more appealing to the reader.
I've mentioned it before but I will say it again; this story strikes me as being very realistic, with believable situations, characters, and dialogs.
Thank you for writing such a beautiful piece.

This was nice, thanks
Marc Vun Kannon chapter 8 . 4/29/2016
An excellent wind-up, but I guess you still have more to come, or is this complete? Hopefully there will be an epilog. I felt very sorry for Sarah. She left the CIA but couldn't bring herself to go to Chuck, condemning herself to a twilight existence for the rest of her life. And Casey saves the day, as usual.
I liked Hannah in canon, always felt she was treated badly, so I'm glad to see her here, with a nice interlude and a parting of the ways that's handled better all around. She does make it possible for Chuck to get some perspective on Sarah, though, making everything else possible. (Maybe Chuck should invite her to the wedding, just so she can find that out.)

Really nicely judged and written. Of course Sarah would at first run away from her own feelings; but thankfully, something held her back because underneath it all, her subconscious knew what she really wanted.
sram15 chapter 8 . 4/29/2016
The line you had where Ellie says that she's not sure whether she had decided if Sarah staying in Burbank was for the best, makes it seem as if she is the one making the decisions. I have always hated stories that put too much of an importance in what Ellie feels or thinks. Sure she raised Chuck but he is a grown man and whatever he decides, she is going to have to accept it. I hope you don't really drag on with her conversation with Sarah. Hope to see Sarah apologize and not to see Ellie give her too hard of a time like other stories have done.

Keep up the great work.

Very enjoyable chapter. Glad that they found their way back to each other. Obviously Sarah was trying to run again, but seeing how conflicted she was and that she didn't get on the train it was obvious what she really wanted. I don't really like Ellie bartowski , so I never really like when she thinks she needs answers and starts questioning people. Always winds me up when she says she needs to protect her little brother, he's a grown man for god sake. Can't wait to see how their relationship develops now, and to see how they deal with the past revealing conversations.

At first I thought it was to easy. Sarah finds him in NY and apologizes. They hook up at his hotel room later and bam happy ending! ;) But then of course it turns into romantic scene at Grand Central Station. Loved Casey's encouraging push! Thank you!
boxerman81 chapter 8 . 4/28/2016
This story is really good, and I'll explain why. The plot of the story, while still quality, is relatively average in comparison to other well written fanfics. That's not to say bad, but it isn't the Brothers Karamazov of fanfics. What makes it so enjoyable to read is the pacing.

The format of fan fiction makes it so that, in order to be successful, the author must release chapters like a comic book or tv show, not a novel. So, so many writers fail in this, and thusly their stories end up being extremely boring. Yeah, in that author's mind they might see the slight foreshadowing or important detail, but audiences don't.

This story, unlike the vast majority of fics, is a complete success in this regard. Every chapter, even the ones that end angst or partial cliffhangers, leaves me feeling satisfied with the advancement of the main plot while simultaneously being an enjoyable chapter on its own. So, so many stories out there would do well to mimic this pacing. It's fine that the chapters don't come out so often, because they're all important.

No terms of this chapter, nice. I was a little confused by Sarah's proud smile though. I assumed that it meant that she'd somehow gotten Hannah out of the way with an amazing job offer, but Sarah's actions following that didn't match up.
