Reviews for Hand-Me-Down Ranma -- A Good Fit? |
---|
![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know for sure, but I think that Nabiki just giving Ranma a choice has done more for making him care for her than any of the others have done all together. |
![]() ![]() This is almost exactly what happened in those canon episode from 110. Akane's behavior was is like bipolar and it really was super confusing in canon. One min she is angry and the next, she would seem concerned! I am hoping you'd deviate from canon and its really a rarity to find non canon pairing fics. We all know how it ended in the manga and so some readers would love to see a "change" pairup. Personally, I think the whole manga with Ranma still ending up with Akane seemed far-fetched, she would trust Ryogo sooner than Ranma's word anyday. Genma still got away with manipulating and crafting Ranma to follow him obediently and be depended. I dont even get why the hell the curse was needed and we get that it fit perfectly so damn well to their personality. Funny enough there really was a cure. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hmm, now to see if Ranma and Nabiki can have a serious conversation about what's going on. And I'm actually looking forward to Nabiki and Kasumi's talk as well. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, Nabiki's inner motivations are starting to have an effect. The dialog is still the same, with Akane fuming at Nabiki's actions towards Ranma, but then pulling in her anger. The difference is, Nabiki isn't doing this intentionally to arouse Akane's jealousy, she's actually concerned that Ranma was hurt. Which is completely out of character for Nabiki, but that's okay, because she's supposed to be out of character. What I'm concerned about is Akane's "bumping" into Nabiki. Akane has NEVER provoked or threatened her rivals in the canon, and throughout this arc she NEVER raised a hand against Nabiki. For you to suddenly have her physically threaten Nabiki isn't just out of character, it implies that you are going to shift towards the "psycho Akane" characterization that is typical for these stories. It's obvious that you used that scene to set up Nabiki pretending to be assaulted, since she would not do that intentionally to try to provoke Akane into taking Ranma back. Except, Nabiki STILL asks Akane for money, as if the money is the only reason Nabiki is trying to make Akane jealous. The point at which you should still be following the canon is long past, and you're having to deviate from the canon just to follow it. I'm assuming that next chapter we will see some changes, since Ranma didn't speak to Nabiki at this point, and instead he and Akane tried to apologize to each other. Hopefully Nabiki can finally start to get on track, instead of saying one thing and doing another. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I think Nabiki needs to just stop offering Ranma back to Akane, and explain to Ranma what her reasoning has been as that has been unfair to him. Not saying I'm not enjoying the story as I am, just Akane is too stubborn to give up and not mature enough to stop hurting herself and others feeling. Ranma has his own problems in that area, mostly due to his father, now if it was Genma that was being hurt I would be all for it, but alas I it is Ranma that is being hurt here. |
![]() ![]() ![]() i wonder what will happen next? |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is still following the canon version with minuscule changes only and that being Nabiki having a conscience. Ranma is still the same from that point of being engaged to Nabiki. I am guessing that is why the chapters come out faster. I wonder...when this would divert from the canon version. I had hoped Ranma wont be derailed by Nabiki's wiles this time... After re-watching the episodes. I can see Akane's character is still on the same prideful immature self. Even when Ranma saving Nabiki from that fall itself, made her so jealous enough to cause him physical harm, this only showed Akane being not thankful of Ranma when he saved her own sister. I cant imagine Xian pu or even Ku Lon would be supremely stupid enough to actually kill Nabiki (Obstacle in their terms). Even if they succeed, Ranma certainly wont willing accept them and even if they bring him in their Village, He would rather commit suicide than be their slave. Anyway...until next chap! -Meech |
![]() ![]() Really enjoying this. I usually don't check out stories that are just starting since so many end up dead after one chapter, but I like Nabiki enough that I decided to check it out and followed it right when it was post. Really happy to see it coming along so rapidly, honestly didn't expect this much this quickly. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The previous review is me. Didn't mean to go anon, just forgot I was signed in on my phone but not the computer. |
![]() ![]() I like the part where Ranma said, "Huh, What do they all see in her?". He should be asking that question himself and think harder. |
![]() ![]() Now it got confusing! Is Nabiki just amusing herself by just saying that she loves Ranma, and if so why would she sell him out again, like he is some kind of gigolo for sale sale? Its clear that you gave "some" semblance of conscience for Nabiki, although its sometimes confusing in this chapter when she is still offering to sell him out. This chap was real short too! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I thought Nabiki was too quick to want to try and make up with Akane. After all (although you never made any mention of this in Chapter 1) Nabiki was the one who started the fight with Akane in the first place. And it's obvious that Nabiki accepted the engagement in order to keep the conflict going. Even Ranma and Kasumi believe that the engagement switch is nothing but a fight between Akane and Nabiki. On the other hand, if there's a moment for the story to diverge from the canon, it's here, where Nabiki makes the decision to openly romance Ranma in order to drive Akane into a jealous rage. If she instead starts to show affection to him for her own sake, it could effect everyone's reactions, even Akane's, since she already believes that Nabiki is in love with Ranma. This is honestly all Nabiki's fault. She didn't successful predict how Akane would react when she overheard her tell Ranma that she loves him, and she's foolish enough to think that Akane would actually take Ranma back if she lowered her price, which ignores the fact that Akane doesn't think like that. So Nabiki thinking that she's given Akane her chance is pretty short-sighted. What she should really do is realize that she's miscalculated by making Akane think she's in love with Ranma and give her time to think about it. But of course, Nabiki's not going to do that, because she's not really as clever as she would like to think she is. |
![]() ![]() ![]() LOL...even now, Nabiki was willing to sell him...so much for proclaiming her love for the jock... If Ranma hears about this and finally comes to a realization that, he really is just a pass around trophy for them and their source of personal amusement. |
![]() ![]() A stark contrast from Akane, with Nabiki being the new fiance and the slightest touch of adding some conscience to her stale character in canon. You need to re-adjust Ranma's character to suit with Nabiki's. Ranma somehow fit with Akane because of both of them being too egoistical and hardheaded. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Honestly, I think she's given her sister TOO many chances. Then again, I'm a bit of a selfish person. And I can't wait to see her interact with Ranma more, especially to see how he reacts to some of her schemes. |
