I LOVE this chapter, so alive, and real. I love how you keep the name secret to drop it off like this along Haymitch's sarcasm. Brilliant! I am glad I didn't read the title of the chapter carefully, as it would have given it away.

Lovely chapter, so good to see their closeness, so good to see how Peeta is still thinking Katniss might not be there for him, not really wanting him. Good to see that she so does!

I'm so in love with this story. Exactly what I needed after re reading Mockingjay. Your way with words and feelings is astounding. I especially like the plot right now, having Peeta and Katniss building the foundations of what we read on the epilogue. It was worth the wait. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for them, but meanwhile I'm comfortable with this sweet chapters full of the peace they deserve. Thank you for updating every week.

This story looked like it had promise, but I feel like in the most recent chapters you've completely lost grasp on the characters personalities. They're very static and flat now. I've lost interest.
Let me explain:

While Gale and Katniss did grow apart, he was never a cruel man. He lost the ability to understand her, but he was never cruel.

Katniss and Gale's relationship was never romantic. While she did explore this possibility, her heart was never truly in it. If you read the ways she describes Gale in the novel she never goes into great deatail. He is just Gale, a boy from the Seam that appears to be related to her but isn't. She loves him of course but it never develops into anything you can base a real relationship off of. They're a bit complicated that way. They lived in an extremely oppressed world together, relied on each other in a very important way but to Katniss that isn't enough to warrant being with him romantically. She can see how others would think that, but she herself didn't really consider it. While to Gale that is enough, why would he end up with anyone else?

Peeta was never Katniss' would entail that Katniss never cared about him. He understood certain things about her, plus, during their youth, they had a very complicated relationship. Most of which was stipulated without words. Their relationship was frustrating on both ends for different reasons. Peeta loves her, Katniss doesn't even know what she feels for him for most of the story. Instead of trying to understand whatever is happening between them, Katniss chooses to ignore everything. This is something you can't blame her for. Peeta was, in a way, someone Snow was forcing on her and she resented that.

Katniss, while not very great at expressing her emotions, was never heartless. Before the war was not the time to invest herself in something as trivial as men. But she really did try to limit how much she might have hurt Peeta and Gale. Also she was very young at the time, so not all of her choices were the greatest. But what I believe to be the element that you're missing, is that Katniss changed greatly after the war. Sure, she was damaged, but she came to understand that to be miserable and depressed like her mother would not be the correct way to honour the dead.

Also, never, ever did Katniss need Gale or Peeta to survive in the simplest form. That is something that I feel Gale tried to convey to Peeta, although he did so through poorly chosen words. By accepting Peeta in her life at the end of the novel she comes to the realization that survival is not sufficient. There is so much more to life that just surviving.

I truly hope that you take this themes into consideration, especially since you appear to be stuck. Please, do not take this as an offensive comment, I myself sometimes forget these things as well. It's how stories loose their point. But at the end of the day none of this really matters. It's all just fiction.

So Katniss basically cheated on Peeta and he's the one grovelling and apologising. The idiot is still sharing her bed knowing fully well she's thinking of another man? Pathetic.

I really don't get why authors keep characterising Peeta as this puppy that will let a selfish, unstable woman treat him like dirt. It's not remotely attractive.

Katniss might not be good with words but for me the part of this chapter was nailed by katniss. I just need katniss to be consistent and active participant of assuring perta that she will always be there. And for Gale screw him. Not all people are revolving around him. I hope he just get out and move on.
