Reviews for A Single Decision (Take Two)
Another S.T.A.L.K.E.R chapter 52 . 6/5/2022
Star Wars died for me with Force Awakens. Now, it helps to distinguish between 'Star Wars classic' and 'SW Disney trash sequel era'.

Why are you eager to write it off for what is done to it now? Just separate the 'now' and 'then', by compartmentalizing.

So I hope your genuine enjoyment and interest in writing this returns. Try not to let your prior enjoyment of things be tainted by the ... fuckery currently done to the IP. Just distinguish, compartmentalize and ignore the new trash being shat out by Disney every few days.

A slower Chapter, but the internal and external setup for future chapters is exiting.

I think you are doing the oc's well by the way
imveryhungry chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
I love when Grievous gets all religious.
0ne Swood Guy chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
Well, first, thank you for giving me a shoutout at the end in your author's notes! Btw, you misspelled my username as 0neSWORDGuy when I am in fact a SWOOD guy (like that classic JonTron) meme. Not a big deal but I just thought you should know.

Second, let me get one thing clear: I do not hate your OCs. Like you suspected and I alluded to, it's more so my irrational annoyance at the lack of Grievous in the later chapters which I completely understand. The OCs themselves are fine, even if I still think you went a bit overboard with the amount. And just because I sometimes get frustrated with them for their flaws, that wasn't really me complaining. If anything, me getting frustrated with them is actually a good thing! Genuine flaws are what make characters feel like real people with their struggles and angst (and I do love me some Esera angst). I think I just wasn't ready or used to some of your OCs personalities, like Voyan and his somewhat standoffish nature. I understand why he is what he is by the time Esera joins the Confederacy, but every now and then I'm like, "Dude, at least try to smile or something." And Esera's character development, while juicy and angsty, does also have it's moments that don't sit right with me. The biggest offender being how she quickly dismisses Sanya and proceeds to give her the cold shoulder just because she was honest enough to speak her mind about the nature of their friendship back at the Temple. Now, again, I understand how a revelation like that can be world-shattering for a girl her age with all the baggage she's carrying. But, at the same time, I feel it's also kind of...stupid and pointlessly petty? Like, you'd think she'd at least appreciate Sanya being brave enough to be honest with her and expressing a desire to get to know her for real this time (after all, I'm pretty sure honesty is something every good functioning crew needs). That's pretty much the only thing I really didn't care for. Again, I understand Esera's young and scarred and she's got a lot on her shoulders, but that just came across as unnecessarily bitchy of her imo. Everything else about her and the other OCs I'm fine with.

I'm happy to hear you will be doing more droid stuff in the future! Battle droids and the like have always been one of my favorite things about this franchise! And when I was going into this fic for the first time, I was sort of imagining we'd get to meet special named droids as a parallel to the special named Clones on the other side like Rex and Fives. Admittedly, I don't know how well that'd play out, but if nothing else, I was really hoping to see more droids do goofy things or just show off a little more personality. If you aren't aware, there's this YouTuber called Solar Sands who just recently uploaded a video called "Why Battle Droids Deserved Better" and it really lays out the hidden sympathetic plight of the droids as well as that elusive topic regarding their sentience (something Star Wars as a whole has conveniently avoided discussing for the most part). Idk if you're going to try opening that can of worms in your story or if you even want to, but maybe it's something to consider for the future? At the very least, I would like to know whatever happened to that humble security droid that gunned down Anakin and Palpatine, two of the Confederacy's biggest thorns in their side. You'd think that guy would be the talk of the town among the droid community or something. But if goofy isn't really your style, doing something with Grievous' magnaguards could be cool. I've always liked how he trains them himself and even dresses them in cloaks with Kaleesh marks as a way of commemorating his dead war buddies iirc.

Speaking of Grievous, one thing I forgot to mention about him in my last review was the subtle but wonderful direction you've taken his character. Taking those anger enhancer chips out of his brain really has helped him for the better (at least in terms of competency and not mindlessly lashing out at things). I love how it's also allowed him to become more reflective and spiritual again, nice addition. And the fact you've basically made him a strict but mostly understanding surrogate father to Esera is the shit. Btw, does he believe Esera is his daughter reincarnated or something? There's been a lot to keep track of in this story so that detail might've slipped past me; I just want to be sure I'm reading the situation right.

Also, I made an error in my last review. When I said the Republic's secret "Star Destroyer", I actually meant to say Death Star. Why do those two things have to have similar names? Anyway, yeah, just thought it was a cool concept for the Republic to have the Death Star while the Confederacy has the Star Forge. One side creates, the other destroys, rhyming poetry. Of course, this is assuming you're even going to consider the idea at all. You seem to have other plans with that weird Rakatan seed thing.

Anyway, that's about it I think. Sorry to hear you're done with Star Wars. I get that Disney has tarnished its reputation, but at least try to appreciate the series for what it was, not what it is now. George Lucas Star Wars will always be the real Star Wars to me. Best of luck, man!

I seconded what TheInvisibleMan33 Has said for this chapiter. Your story is the best thing that happens to the star wars fanfics and a stark contrast to what the Mouse has shat out. I really enjoy the story and sadden that the story is reaching its end.

Thanks and good work on the new chapter.
The spy master is definitely my favourite character in this book

Hey, I just wanted to say I love your story. This is easily the best thing I have read. I found your story about 6 months ago and it consumed my life. Im sorry to hear that you're giving up on star wars but I totally understand. Im looking forward to the continuing of your story.
TheInvisibleMan33 chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
If you are looking for a critique, than I would like to say that it is shocking and disheartening to hear that you are or the story itself is picking up the pace as you said. Also that your tired of Star Wars being ruined by suits and corporations.

Let me start by saying I agree with you that Star Wars has taken a… less than optimal path as of late. But I would like to make clear that that is what makes your story so important! You are the shining light in the dark sky of Star Wars fails. This is a different take on Grievous, and a OC Jedi that I think is awesome. I 100% believe this story deserves animation and more acknowledgement from the community.

Secondly I’m sad to hear that the story is picking up the pace not solely for selfish reasons. I love the dynamic between GG and Esera, the father daughteresk dynamic as they learn from each other, how the crew has grown as characters, the battles, the war overall. This is a true successor to The Clone Wars and that’s my honest opinion. Which is why it’s hard to hear that the pace is picking up to get the story down, the community (while toxic) loves this story. Please, TimeWatch and Corshy1, keep putting out great content.

Secret PS I so wanna know if Esera is gonna finally embrace being a bit like Grievous and get a arm like Grievous has and spin lightsabers. I’m so excited to see what happens next!
Gabriel chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
Wow. Another banger of a chapter, covering the aftermath, a logical sequence of events and debriefings, and an interesting introspective into your OCs that I absolutely eat up.

I for one do not quite understand why readers would dislike the OCs at all, in fact they are what make a SW story a SW story in my opinion. Not only that, but they are reasonably flawed, hardly annoying or intolerable, and mesh together well. The only one i'm worried about is Sanya, only because she seems a little too naive for someone who cleans up battlefields, and has literally worked on planets where a couple thousand casualties is a days work-on both sides of the battlefield. So outrage over the base delta zero should really just ring more hollow, especially given the fact that abdicating on that issue would but beskar in the hands of Tarkin, and would provide hundreds of applications that would kill many more than a couple thousand people. At the end of the day, I feel like there should be more sorrow over the fact that she had to do it, and less regarding why she would do it in the first place. Moreover, I hope Esera comes out stronger than ever with this new arc, I appreciate roadblocks to growth but I hope to see a true Jedi Knight level of strength by the time of her next mission. To finish up with Sanya, I just don't get why she acts kind of self-centered socially here, I mean she could and probably should have more apologizing to do to Esera, or at the least do good by her with more respect.

I for one hope that their next ship gives them some more droid forces to have at their disposal, hell a squadron of perched Vulture droids would be incredibly handy to have against fighter screens, and even two droidekas for internal ship security would be fascinating and useful, especially given their past experience with boarding. On the heat stroke front, the thermal regulation issues only last a few months thankfully, and of course her natural weakness in hot environments will never go away, although im sure the SW galaxy has some sort of cooling solution for that.

On the greater galactic front, I wonder now what year we are at exactly, and what production numbers look like for both sides. I specifically wonder what a galactic map looks like on a grand scale, perhaps in reference to a galaxy at war map or something... picking up that game finally got me to see what the Encounter actually looks like.

On a general note, this story has been inspirational and certainly has been the new standard for me when looking for new things to read. You may humbly say that the grander scheme is not your forte, but you have not failed to provide relevant details in a way that is above average to say the least. While not your strong suit, it has never failed to impress and portrays an interesting tactical stalemate for both sides. The interpersonal stuff is unbelievably rich in communication and in sincerity, and I will not have to check this page weekly once again to await another hopefully long installment. And man am I excited to see what the Jedi (and Tarkin) have planned...
Ander Arias chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
Yeah, I was wondering how long Esera could go on until she would break, and it seems like we're very close to that point, so Grievous made the right call in relocating her to a less stressful position.

One scene that didn't sit well with me was the one between Asajj and Obi-wan. Not because I didn't like it, but being the only Republic scene in a chapter otherwise devoted to Esera and company, plus the lack of any new piece of information, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I believe it would have been better in a chapter with more Republic scenes.

Going back to the previous point... even if I don't think she's a bad character (far from it) I'm not sad to see Esera leaving for the time being. I think I said it a few times before, but I feel Esera is the least interesting part of the story at this point, given how her plots are on the smaller scale and rarely advance the plot, not to mention the sheer amount of OCs she drags with her.

And funnily enough, despite this being a Confederate focused fic, right now the more interesting plots are on the Republic side, with all what Tarkin is doing involving the Rattaka "seed" and the Death Star, Maul, the Jedi Schism, the Jedi Council getting ready to depose Tarkin, and the hints that some clones were aware of the true purpose behind their creation.

Meanwhile, the Confederacy seems to be doing pretty good, with Grievous no longer having to deal with the Separatist Council and pretty much everybody on his side supporting him, which makes his rule of the Confederacy smoother, plus Grievous and Esera already aware that Sidious was Palpatine, so it doesn't feel like there's much left to do with them (though I'm sure you have plans).

I'll stop here. Sorry if this review feel overly critical.
luther10120111 chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
Good stuff. Love the advanced information gathering.
FractiousDay chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
Yea those points seem fair enough really. I still massively disagree with you about scale but sure, if you're interpreting it one way that's your perogative, your story and all that. As for the points you noted around focus, you've said before that this fic has developed from your initial ideas and indeed, I much prefer the war stuff rather than Esera wandering about, but again, it's your fic, it's for you to decide what you want to write about and in a story as long as this one it's not unusual for things to change.

Thoughts on this chapter: This feels like the 4th of 5th time we've done this, so I'll admit to being somewhat fatigued. Once again, there's Esera drama. I'm not sure what else I can say really apart from noting that indeed, I don't like this thing which I've already said I don't like, so meh. It feels a little formulaic, something happens, Esera's trauma gets pushed to the fore, there's the decompression holiday, then there'll be another mission. You mention that you're accelerating the pace, ok, sounds good, we'll see how that works out. I also agree with others about the bloat of characters.
Taskmasterxyz chapter 52 . 6/3/2022
I've been really enjoying this story and all that has been happening so far. The OC's are enjoyable and fun to read about, although of course some more than others, and their interactions with our beloved canon characters are great.
I really hope we get more Grievous and droid action (I have a weird love for battle droids) with him battling and besting Jedi in combat. I am also intrigued as to how you'll handle Esera's fragile relationship with Sanya and how they'll reconcile, as well as her mental issues.
Have a good day and I hope to see the next chapter in a months time!
