Very nice. Lelouch generally, if done right, are a nice addition to any crossover. I also like that you didn't just go a had him join a Peerage as so many others do. I also like that Sona is the one who is the most "main" the whole thing, I have issues with Rias, some may think that she saved her Peerage but to me she simply got them to bargain their freedom away for their lives. Seriously, four of her Peerage was or would be dead if they didn't accept, one had a massive hatred for her own nature and wanted to change, and one was ostracized because he couldn't control his own power. Rias Gremory never gave anything for free, maybe not out of bad intentions, but I still don't like her. Lastly, it's also good to see Zero back to work. I'm guessing he's building a power base? It was never in Lelouch's nature to be defenseless.

Alright, just finished reading the chapter and I have to say, I'm very impressed by its quality.

Normally, after a long absence most writers take a while to get back into the swing of things, with even the most talented authors leaving noticeable changes in the quality of their writing. Admittedly when I read the first few paragraphs it sent warning signals into my head, considering how many long-delayed chapters opened with some pseudo-introspective monologue, but I'm glad that my worries were misplaced and that in the end it was wrapped up quickly so as not to detract from the actual bread and butter of the story. And the fact that this most recent chapter is still of a quality equal to (and at some points even greater than) some of your earlier ones is why I'm so amazed.

Though I suppose it can be partially attributed to you having never really put down your pen in the first place, considering how school is and all.

But anyway, I'll keep things short; superb job on chapter eight, and I'll be looking forward to what comes next whenever it comes. Once again good luck on your finals, plus don't forget to de-stress once in a while. Peace.

Heh, but in all seriousness, great to have you back in the writing game again. School and life and such can definitely take up your time, believe you me, and I for one am very glad you've decided to still keep this story afloat despite those commitments. Frankly speaking I've been dealing with a lot of stuff in my life as well, so I don't usually frequent as much as I used to (that and the writing well running dry when I was last browsing this site) but I'll be sure to read up on the newest chapter of Topple Your Kings as soon as I'm free (as well as check if any of my other favorite stories have updated as well).

And here I was hoping his previously unnoticed Code would attempt to interface with the holy relics, sort of like an administrative tool leftover when it's previous user (somehow) kicked the bucket. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I don't see how Lelouch managed to get the church to trust Zero to some degree. All they know is that he's some unknown mage who knows of the theft and had acquired Freed's sword somehow. The most logical conclusion would be that he's working with the rogues and since Freed now apparently has two kickass new Excalibers he could've just given his old sword to Zero. And now the weilder of Durandal could be walking into a trap as we speak. Except for that, i loved the actual assassination. I wonder how Kiba would react to Lelouch stealing his kill though.

People acting in character, well written dialogue, drastic diversions from canon High School DxD's plotline in a manner that makes sense, another excellent chapter.

It's frankly depressing how much better this story is than (most) other DxD fanfics.
