|Reviews for A Season of Sorrows Unending -- the Cerberus Files : Separatist Races|
| Janizary chapter 11 . 5/31
I like the background on the other Drell planets and the 'clean up' info. Adds some interesting info. (I have no /sarc, tanks empty today ;) )
| Janizary chapter 9 . 5/29
Somewhere, these is the Hanar version of Pin-Head. Serious weirdos. ;)
| AnthonyR89 chapter 11 . 5/29
...i distinctly remember this story stating there were around 750 million Drell when the hanar encountered them. now, it's less than a tenth of that number.
| Azrael66 chapter 10 . 2/26
I'm not sure about making the Hanar so powerful, but then I also doubted you when Saren died on Noveria and you proved me wrong. So I will try to keep an open mind as the story progresses.
| AnthonyR89 chapter 2 . 10/12/2017
...why did you make the Hanar the Yawg of this cycle? seriously? the Hanar?
| Guest chapter 10 . 3/22/2017
Chapter 10 is THE reveal. I knew the AU was like Warhammer 40k - dark and edgy - the human government reminds me of Imperium of Man, only without an emperor and instead rule by High Lords( I think in w40k there were High Lords of Terra) and an 'acceptance' of aliens.
The Leviathan just gives of the vibes of the Chaos God Tzeentch with his manipulations.
I find what the hanar are doing to the asari highly, veeery highly disturbing. The whole way they go about it and the possible eventual fate of all asari as hanar addicted slaves is setting off something in me that will keep me a little on edge and paranoid for the rest of the night. The horror in it, I find it, is that the asari will basically be happy to be slaves, even if they realise this is wrong they will do nothing. The asari would have a less disconcerting fate if they are slaves to someone who physically abuses them. Then at least they would want to excape their slavery.
The bit about the hanar work on the asari alone just gives the Horror genre on this work.
| AlexN7 chapter 10 . 9/21/2016
I was starting to suspect, as I read through the previous hanar chapters, that they were actually servants to a Leviathan and not just worshipers of the protheans using old technology. But man, the level of manipulation this Katha is pulling off is pretty amazing, and a load of fun to read about. Especially when you compare this chapter to the ones written from Cerberus' point of view and level of understanding. Or not understanding, as it were.
Also thanks for this OOC chapter that answers some questions. I much prefer being able to recognize things in the main story as it goes along, rather than having to wait and re-read the entire story after it's finished, with a better understanding the second time around. Not that I don't intend on re-reading the main story many times over once it's finished - I'll probably read it many, many more times, and try to talk as many Mass Effects fans as I can into reading it as well - but it's nice to be able to see the patters and the flow of things when reading it the first time. (Fear Unrelenting, Seen Darkly was a great help in this, too.)
| AlexN7 chapter 8 . 9/21/2016
"That'd be cool."
I love Brooks. Her report is a more entertaining read, and a lot easier to stomach than the hate-spewing Minsta. I get that that's his role, but still. I can't imagine what it's like to have to write him all the time.
| oncoming-traffic chapter 10 . 7/23/2016
Against my better judgement, I read all chapters despite the spoilers. 'Interesting' doesn't do this document justice, but it'll do. The hanar are now the official creepiest jellyfish among all current galactic races. I have only one complaint after reading the Figures of Note section: Where. Is. Blasto?!
Additionally, Brooks (or whatever she calls herself) is by far my second favorite person that has had a hand in the Cerberus files.
| baud001 chapter 9 . 6/28/2016
In all your files on the different races, the best part is always the figures of note. And the Hanar delivered ! (My favorite is Ithorex).
I think having figures of note of a race is great since it gives characters that exemplify their race, making it easier to understand.
| Derain von Harken chapter 10 . 4/7/2016
Oh wow. So basically the somewhat eccentric warrior Cthulu in power armour has been playing a civilisation game with the Hanar. And he actually cares for them a bit. To the same degree i may be a bit fond of some of my units in an RTS.
Plus i like how he is using that Hanar prophet to Troll the Citadel races. Hey dumb inferior lifeforms the bad thing is coming to kill you.
Also him chortling in the depths of the blue sea at how his Hanar are counter infiltrating the Asari at their own seduction game. Heheheheh.
He has got to have a conversation with Vigil and Shepard in which he shows the Inushannon AI what really deriding lesser beings is like.
| ImpenitentRage chapter 10 . 3/16/2016
Huh, I guess I don't like the premiseverse hanar anymore. They kinda seem like one of the bigger bads than the Shadow Broker and the damn Collectors; not to mention they kinda seem mary sueish now, highly advanced technology and drell death squads aside.
If japanese media has taught anything worthwhile it's that when you introduce tentacle porn in something you've pretty much set the bar against any/every female character, and since one of THE most powerful races in both the game and the premiseverse are the Asari - a mono-gendered female race, and have one in control of a high thirty house, and being immune to melding and death from AY's... it's kind of almost insuring that if their not already in control of the galaxy, they can possibly slither their way into it through the asari's loins.
| RED78910 chapter 10 . 3/14/2016
Damn. A Leviathan is the one giving all this technology to and controlling the Hanar. That makes a lot of good sense, and is more horrifying then any other possibility I think.
Very interesting stuff. Can't wait for more.
| Nogui chapter 10 . 3/13/2016
Holy shit. I knew there was gonna be some Leviathan influence, but to this extent?!
And the Collectors being "double agents", that is gonna spice up their story. I really look forward for your eventual documents on them.
And the fact Katha and the "Dark Gods" are not in very friendly terms is interesting. I'm still craving the rest of the batarian documents or your version of Arrival to see what the fuss is about.
I love your universe. You are a mastermind.
| 5 Coloured Walker chapter 10 . 3/13/2016
A good chapter, I look forward to more.
