Reviews for Parseltongue is Really Very Ordinary |

![]() ![]() ![]() I do hope he also includes the message Lilly left for him with the crystal Lilly. I will cry if he doesn't. This is not a threat. It is a promise. Okay it's not really, but I will be sad! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I actually did a bit of research on Lockhart, I'm glad you didn't automatically put him in a bad light. He is quite Slytherin, isn't he? Actually... I'm far too forgiving to judge people. Everyone has reasons for doing what they do, and no one's inherently evil; which means that for me, I can't simply wish harm on the Dursleys or Professor Lockhart despite what they've done or are doing. That's actually kind of scary...would I even forgive someone who's kidnapped me once I know what happened to make them that way? I'd probably feel sorry for them too. I do feel for Voldemort after all...and I don't blame him for the choices he made, and am horrified on his behalf that he felt the need to sever his soul to live. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well! So it has something to do with the wards hmm? I guess Dumbledore only told the students and not the parents about what happened down the trapdoor on the third floor, eh? or maybe just his suspicions about it being Voldemort, can never start recruiting too early right? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Awh man, I'm really digging this Slytherin Harry! You've done a very good job at expressing exactly why the sorting hat wanted him in Slytherin. Also, maybe the Parkinson's are ignoring him because of what happened with Prof. Q and the Philosopher's stone. They wouldn't know about what really happened, after all. |
![]() ![]() ![]() oof. that final conversation with Snape was well done. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ... oh no. just... oh no. this rather ties in with my pondering on a prior response you had to a receiver regarding "snapping out of itof which I am profoundly happy that you note there is nothing to snap out of). I find it interesting that Harry doesn't have any... hints... of various modal mental disorders relavite to abused children. I also understand that this isn't that sort of fic, but I am interested to note how, in his day to day life, balanced and apparently well adjusted Harry is. of course, there are the trust issues (very well written, those. the "I cannot allow myself to think of it" blind spot resonates well and is acted upon. Anways, just musing. I am delighted with how you wrote lockheart this chapter. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm more of commenting on the latin. It makes sense to me that it would be called Vulgar Latin because in Latin Vulgar means common. it's used a lot in botanical names for plants, and I'm sure other kingdoms of life as well. Calluna vulgaris for example is Common heather. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh deary me. A dropbear predator. I can stop putting Vegemite behind my ears now. ... I wonder how it gets on with hoop snakes? Also, living here in Sydney, the dash of local culture is great. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This entire series is very interesting. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Only 1%? Oops sorry. Been binging this without stopping. It's great, it really is. I have had so much fun reading this. Love pansy, and I never do. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Reply to "AnotherGuest": Bingo! Percy is trying to hint about Time-Turners. Both Bill and Percy - model students and prefects/head boys - got 12 OWLS, taking all electives. Something you can only realistically manage with a Time-Turner, I reckon! There will be another reference or two to this next fic. |
![]() ![]() Is Percy's tip about 'time' a hint that he, too, is using a timeturner? Nice touch! It seems unlikely, that Hermione should be the only one - after all she is smart but not that singularly special. |
![]() ![]() "He reminds me of someone though"... I have a suspicion and now I'm really curious if this will be elaborated on or not. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Dear "AnotherGuest" - thanks for your reviews! Yes, I went with "I swear on my magic" not being a part of my fic universe in the end. But Unbreakable Vows still exist. Harry can see Thestrals - he *did* see his parents die, and I see no reason for that not to count just because his memories are kind of dim. So, ignoring canon on that one. As far as Harry's Parseltongue abilities go, it's deliberately vague in the fic at the moment as to where they originate from, but FYI I'm favouring a non-canonical explanation on this. |
![]() ![]() I'm curious wether you will stay with the canon-explanation of Harry's Parsel-talent or if it will be actually inherited. Personally I always like the non-canon-option on that one, but I can understand faithfulness to canon just as well. |
