If nobody is really a muggleborn and instead just descended from squibs then how was magic first brought into the human race?

Out of curiosity why did Hermione still go for Millicent’s hair? The only reason she targeted her in canon was that Hermione needed someone who wasn’t Crabbe or Goyle to impersonate and picked her because how easily she could get a hair (got in a fight during the dueling club) Wouldn’t she have just taken Harry’s place as Goyle/Crabbe so they have both replaced?

I’m guessing the French becomes important in 4th year

I'm really enjoying this series! I love how you're keeping Canon but just changing a few details and seeing where it leads! It's very satisfying!

I know it's years since you posted but I have a couple of britpicky critiques - University was free in the UK when Petunia would have been that age, so Lily going to Hogwarts shouldn't have affected that in the slightest. There was even a generous government grant (not a loan, a grant!) to cover living costs.
Equally, there is absolutely no reason for Harry not to have medical checkups - we have the NHS! Dentistry is free for under 18s, as are eye tests and cheap glasses, and of course all medical work for allergies etc. Prescriptions are also free for children.
I realise he doesn't actually have a lactose intolerance, but I think even as a child he should have found it weird that he didn't go to the doctors about this...

Also, per Canon, Hogwarts is supposed to be free, as it is the only school in Wizarding Britain, so it's their version of the local Comprehensive! Given that all labour is done by house elves and there are spells to multiply food, running costs ought to be pretty cheap too. I understand that a lot of people like to have Hogwarts as a paid-for private school for plot reasons, but I just thought I'd mention this :)

the more i read it, the more i like the series. you have a thing in writings. your world building is not too fast nor too slow, it's perfect. also the character developments too. you don't make them instantly change or friends, you do it slow but sure and i love it.

please pardon me, because there are so many things i would like to tell you about my opinion of this series (the good one, mind you). but unfortunately english is not my first language, so i kinda at lost of what to say, sorry. but one thing for sure, I'm definitely super interested to read the next one!

I'm really, really enjoying this series :) I really love all your characterisations. I think lockhart was done really well to be able to be not as completely useless and infuriating that he usually is! I've yet to find a fic that even got close to making umbridge a decent human being so I'm very interested in your take on her if you've got that far /are planning to write her. Your Harry is a joy to read and I find myself really not knowing what is going to happen which is quite unusual and really exciting for me :)

This is a really great analogy! I was a bit annoyed by Hermione’s attitude before, and I could understand the blood purists views on hating muggles a bit earlier in the story. Saying that she’s acting like a tourist is a really good comparison, and I feel like you explained the different views really well.

i like it. A good twist on the canon. The style is excellent, the characters and scenes are easy to imagine. I have nothing to complain about, I'm just enjoying it. Let's start the next one!
