So, there are Wards of the Crown in the UK. I just googled it. That’s where we got it from for Canada. And it is Ward of the State for US. Not sure where the person got their info, Ward of the Crown has been around for a long time. Also Fosterage.

The police and military should already be involved. Granted, self-defense is no longer honored in the UK and murder is more acceptable than memes, but at least back then the constables took some interest in crime.
