So I had a thought reading this. I sure wouldn't be telling anyone what my defenses were.

Dobby came and told Harry that someone had destroyed his wards then Harry just sat around for hours doing nothing but twiddling his thumbs and saying 'finally' because it wasn't an appropriate time to wake others? The entire scene was set up to make Harry look like a moron, the aurers are reactive right now, and considering it took Voldemort over an hour and a half to bring down the wards they could have arrived and done something even if they didn't beat Voldemort themselves it would have annoyed him and prevented him from achieving any sort of victory.

Well that took a turn I wasn't quite expecting. Was a good read throughout. I look forward to diving into the next one. Well done and thanks for sharing!

I'll be honest, I thought Harry was gonna be a "complete idiot" here. Quite surprised with his plan. Definitely did not expect that. Loved it!

This is always a rough year in the series. This chapter alone is giving me the idea that this might be the roughest yet. I hope for small mercies for our heroes.

Sorry to hear of your injury. I broke my right arm and wrist playing volleyball, when I has in High School, and was in a cast for about 8 weeks. Try typing, or playing the clarinet, while wearing a thumb-spike cast... ️

So, I just had to post it here, I know you've written this years ago, but who knows.

Lestrange is not written "LeStrange" or any other alternative way because it is not meant to be some sort of anglicization of a French word. Lestrange would be a bastardized version of old French, and come from two words: estrange, le.

Estrange in modern French spelling would be "Étranger". Le is the equivalent of "The", except that in French, we remove the vowel at the end of "Le" and replace it with an apostrophe ' to link it with the next word, meaning Lestrange L'étranger. It's literal translation in English would be: The Stranger.

So Lestrange was probably some immigrant that was given the name Tom the stranger but in french. Which quickly became Tom Lestrange.

I thought without Hogwarts Umbridge wouldn't be our worry, at one point, lol.

They're going to have to make their own Magical Britian at this rate. Terrorism is bad, but the sympathetic corruption might be just as bad - emotionally I find it a bit worse.

Why would they give a detailed description of the room’s defenses, when everyone knows that the ministry keeps secrets like a sieve holds water?
