The first chapter needed more work as it was slight stretch of imagination for Harry to conclude that the trunk and stuff belonged to his mother.

I like this story so far.

Too many stupid characters in this chapter. In self-defense or defense of a friend, use of any object for that defense is justified. McGonagall was extremely annoying to transfer Harry's detention from Snape instead of outright voiding it.

Very interesting start.

Just finished reading through the story up to now. Awesome, similar to a story that resides here on by tigerman, named Runemaster, that featured Harry as a Runes prodigy (though discovering it much later than here, around 3rd or 4th year I think. ) Really, it seemed to describe him close to how you've defined savant in magical society here, but not quite.

Anyways, I think what I enjoyed most is the interaction between your characters, particularly your new 'Golden Trio." Hope to see what's next as soon you've got it ready to post, cause this is definitely going on alerts list.
