Random chance or maybe true statistics, but seemed it took HP fanfiction MANY MANY years before there was a trickle beyond a handful of any Dudley redemption or contrition etc fanfics. Odd that, with so much OTHER personas and tropes heavily leaning on canon, where Petunia pretty much aborts the ever so slight hint of guilt/regret/shame that gets snuffed out before even forming. And canon Dudley is only one of three Durs turds that show regret/remorse. Yet generally, as if following the women aren't violent, "women are always the victims" cultural narrative, unless stats changed, victim Petunia and Vernon the abuser overly dominate fanon. Good creative writing. |
