Nice job. There are a few typos you might want to correct, but you made Dudley interesting.

I liked this and it was well written but I just cannot help wanting someone, anyone to come up and slap the dickens out of Petunia. Sorry, I get that Daisy is her granddaughter and she obviously loves her, but come on, she has some audacity.

So I enjoyed this, and I ended up reading bits of it to my spouse, who got a kick out of it. You did a great job with Petunia in this last chapter. I had glanced at reviews and got it into my head that her acceptance was going to be "easier" then it turned out to be. You showed that it was hard, that it isn't really so much acceptance (she's never going to be keen on Wizardry) as reconciliation - and interestingly, it isn't a reconciliation with her living nephew, although they do speak with each other like human beings at the end, but a reconciliation with her dead sister by way of said sister's young namesake.
...I say all that, but it rather shamefully shortchanges the (lightly touched on, but easily imagined) blowout when she learned about Daisy going to Hogwarts. Again, it's notable that it is for the child that she unbends, and shouting gives way to an embrace.
Your note at the top of this chapter indicates that Chapter 4 was a later addition, and as it stands I can't imagine this story without it. As much as Vernon and Petunia used their adult power to make Harry's young life a hell, it is impotency that is their overwhelming characteristic in the books - and as differently as Dudley and Amanda respond to this situation with their child, they too experience that powerlessness. The fear and anger that these parents feel is real and their choices, the practical ones anyway, are very limited, even as Dudley points out that they can choose not to be afraid.
It's marked Family, not Adventure or Suspense, but this story is about fear and about being brave.

! I'm going to read this. I already like what you are doing by making Adult!Dudley not-an-asshole and making some "fair point" concessions re: a Dursley perspective on magic and the Wizarding world:
"It really is a wonderful place Dudley." / "Didn't seem like such a wonderful place for you."
"That maybe the first nice piece of magic I've ever seen." / "You know thinking back you might be right..."
Engagingly nuanced dialogue between the cousins, light humor amid the more serious introspection/self-reflection, and I'm just interested to see what happens next.

A beautiful ending to a good story. The scene with Petunia managed to bring tears to my eyes.

I'm curled up in bed sick today, and stumbled across your story. I've read a few stories with this essential premise, and some are very good. Yours is excellent. I particularly admire the narrative voice behind a parent who has reason to fear and loathe the situation, but who has also matured into a good father who will do what's necessary and even good for his family. I found a number of your scenes especially heartwarming while nuanced with a bittersweet edge.

This is an exceptional story, but there is one this my I had hoped you would portray: Harry's feelings towards Petunia's acceptance of Lily in regards to the lack of acceptance in his own case.
