Rotture chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 Aaaa this story was amazing! And actually, i think the ending was really the most fitting possibilityfor this concept? Not only did you explore both the possibilities of the mirror without losing the dangers and pitfalls, but you also showed an important lesson - a deus ex machina does not come free. It's just a matter of discovering the price. Well, thats what i think anyway. This was an absolutely lovely oneshot. |
aalens chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 It was a little difficult to suspend disbelief, however this is highly enjoyable fic. Thank you! BTW ' a little knowledge is a dangerous thing' is actually a pervasive misquote of Alexander Pope's 'a little learning is a dangerous thing' which is from his poem 'An Essay on Criticism.' (I only know that because an English teacher corrected me one day. lol) That poem also includes the often quoted 'to err is human, to forgive divine'. |
Winoniel chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 Great premise, and beautifully written! I'm not quite convinced that the mirror can deliver the 'reality' that you propose rather than just the appearance, but the story was great. I like Mr. Weasley greeting Harry, and I even liked (though hated, if that even makes a little sense) the ending! |
cookyc chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 Now that was good liked your ending |
Avid Reader0907 chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 Wow. This was wonderful. I loved the twists. The ending made perfect sense, and I enjoyed the quotes beginning and ending it. This was unique and something I will reread. Fantastic story! |
Evanescentfacade chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 This is an interesting concept, but the suspension of disbelief has to be applied very liberally. It's a tad bit unrealistic because of the wording that Dumbledore used in the books, but it may be possible? I say this because in the books Dumbledore says 'the heart's deepest desire' or something along those lines. This implies that it doesn't show what the person themself desires the most, but what they desire the most at their core or something similar. I think that can be taken to imply that the heart's greatest desire can only be changed by some great, significant event like their patronus, but as I said before with the suspension of disbelief it makes an interesting what if story. There's also the fact that one would except Hermione and Ron to have noticed how much Harry was visiting the Mirror's room with how much they worried about him the the canon books. I would understand if they didn't notice after Christmas because of Mr. Weasley's death, but these are just a few plot holes that were bugging me. I like your story and how you interpreted the way the Mirror of Erised worked. It's very interesting and the way you ended it wrapped everything up very nicely. |
Twilight's Mercy chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring: there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again. -Alexander Pope I believe that is the quote you got the title from. Language changes over the last 300 years, we tend to say knowledge instead of learning now. |
serenityselena chapter 1 . 6/17/2016 a very interesting twist in Harry's life :) |
