Factual error. You wrote that the cursed spoon was brought to the school 600 years earlier, i.e, the 1300's. It would kill anyone using it on POTATOES.
Columbus discovered the Caribbean islands in 1492 and subsequently Amerigo Vespucci discovered what he named the Americas. POTATOES were introduced to Europe from the Americas and previously were UNKNOWN IN EUROPE.
