Reviews for The Incident
Guest chapter 1 . 3/22/2023
Well, then. Heaven knows I'm late to the party on this review, but I had to leave a little flailing note for you about the beauty of this story. How did I miss this mini-masterpiece? In any case, you've created something so compelling here. Really, really visual, and so touching as well. Loved Leia calling Han a "rake." I got such a kick out of that. "Rake" is a great cousin to "scoundrel." ;) And the final sentence tells us everything we need to know about where Han's head is, at this point. Great job.
Gabrielle Spaziano chapter 1 . 3/21/2022
i loved this!
ShouldIGetOutandPush chapter 1 . 5/11/2021
I wasn't sure if I had read anything by you so I started here at the beginning. How delightful your writing is and I loved your Han and Leia. As I read, I continually thought: well this is my favorite part and then, no, this is. And then I read the last line and my already melty heart turned absolutely liquid. Bravo! I'm looking forward to reading more by you! Thanks for sharing!
JCBS chapter 1 . 10/10/2018
I just (re)read this and am sending you powervibes through the Force to motivate you to publish chapter 2!
Jedi of Grace chapter 1 . 4/20/2018
This is my kind of Han Solo. Man of integrity. He knows Leia is something special and he has to be careful... oh poor poor Leia, when she fell so completely apart, my heart just melted. Han promising to himself that he would never tell a soul what had happened...I love that. The whole fic was good, but those last few paragraphs with Han’s thoughts, the money...so so good.
Guest chapter 1 . 12/23/2017
SO GOOD, BRAVO! Going to read the story that follows this one now haha. (Love your interpretation of how she handles her grief btw. We all know how strong she is, but it was definitely downplayed in the series so thank you for validating our estranged emotions regarding her mental state, it was much needed)
KnightedRogue chapter 1 . 11/6/2017
So like GCFB, I haven't reviewed this. In fact, I don't think I've even READ it before which somehow seems worse. I whine about you not posting fic but I haven't read all of what you've posted? Jeez.

This is gorgeous. The way that Leia just completely falls apart for Han to witness stabs me right in the chest and I can't thank you enough for it. Hans confused comfort, his awkward pats on the back ... gah, the whole thing is genius. You give us so much here, rich in detail and expertly written, that I have a hard time expressing how beautiful this fic really is. Magnificent work, my dear. You are a wonder!
thewritingpuss chapter 1 . 10/23/2017
Damn I can't believe I never reviewed this. My brain is on overload today, so I hope you don't mind minimal coherence?

"when they turned a corner near the command center and Han found himself colliding with something chest-height and solid." This line (and the prose and exchange that followed after) has always stayed with me!

"especially not when she was such a sarcastic little piece of work with him all the time," Got an outloud chuckle out of me.

Your Han is so perfectly in-character, and his voice is down pat. You can hear him saying everything! How he relates to moth Luke and Leia is done so well, how those relationships are forming and affecting him is so clear, but shown to us in such creative and in-character ways.

"He watched her entire body tense into the posture he'd come to think of as her Angry Stance and braced himself for the brewing argument." Angry Stance! Yes!

Ah, that moment when Han realizes Leia is lonely! My heart !

Haha - when she calls him a rake - so good ! "No one's said that word since before interplanetary travel," he pressed" Another highly memorable line!

""Yes," the princess answered immediately. "You're so insufferable that you drove me to it."" More chuckling!

And the way the whole niceness and fun of the evening comes crashing down: ""You thought I was hoping to fuck you before taking off?" he scoffed, entirely pissed off."" (And I like that the issue isn't that he doesn't want to or it hasn't occurred to him- but to have that be the motivation for staying, or the motive for the evening is such an... insult, for lack of a better word?)

And then Leia's talking about how everyone talks about her and what she's going through !

"Leia looked so… vulnerable. Vulnerable in a way he knew she wouldn't want him to see her." YHE PUTTING HER FOOT UNDER THE COVERS MOMENT!

"The notion that the princess had wanted to have sex with him (had she wanted that? He didn't really think so) to distract herself from her grief made him feel nauseous," Another perfect moment!

The dialogue- just all the dialogue! (I said that already, didn't I?) You can see everything that's happening so clearly too.
This story is just so great- and it gets better with a reread!

So excited for the follow-up! I love this period and you write them so well.
inelegantprose chapter 1 . 10/22/2017
How did I never read this? It is without a doubt my favorite piece I have read on this site. Ever. So, so realistic and disarming and brilliant. Holy shit!
Arlome chapter 1 . 7/11/2017
Oh, this was wonderful and somewhat heartbreaking. Your way with words is exceptional. Kudos:)
Losteeyore363 chapter 1 . 6/12/2017
So good!
PeacefullyJos chapter 1 . 4/5/2017
I adored, adored, adored this story.
I felt Leia's pain through Han's eyes. It was heartbreaking and beautiful. Amazing story, excellent portrayal. loved it. xo
organanation chapter 1 . 11/2/2016
I had to come read this after Night of Unrest. It is beautiful and perfectly captures her anguish. Well done. As a side note, drunk Leia is adorable.
JCBS chapter 1 . 10/24/2016
Whoa! You've done a masterful job of building up the UST here. Poor Han: he's never going to be able to leave now that he'll want to look after Leia. Leia's bold move near the end took me by complete surprise, as did Han's response. There must be a morning after follow-up; please! Favorite line: "... there he was entranced by the galaxies-deep eyes of a bossy, uptight, naïve kid princess."
Cicatrick chapter 1 . 9/14/2016
Well this is just spectacular. Your perception and insight into these characters and their dynamic at this point, the assumptions and burdens that they're dealing with, is at once generous and hyperfocused. I felt like I was watching this, your flow is so graceful and wonderfully detailed. You have rare and serious talent.
