I came back to reread and its just as wondrful as the first time ive read it ! Riley is spunky at the funniest moments but also so relatable at her embarrassing ones. Im not sure if you’re continuing this fic, but Hope youre doing well regardless!

this is a super fun story! love the unique take with riley and love all the pokemon she's caught too.

Well so far this has been one of the best OC pokemon fics I have read. even like the slight nod to game mechanics in this gym battle. Riley used 3 pokemon while the gym leader only used 2. Some thing that seems to be ignored in the anime is the fights are not always even. Usually the challenger can use as many pokemon they want up to 6 while the gym leader is restricted any where from 2-6. Though items have yet to be used in battle yet, though given Riley more into money than anything else it could be seen as a waste.

I am a bit sad it's been about a year going on two since the last update. While I just came across this story from the AN I can tell this isn't the first time it's happened. I hope it doesn't kill this story, nothing destroys an authors drive to write than long pauses in writing imo.

I know Riley doesn't like to read and she doesn't have the answer to everything Pokedex, a seemingly rare thing to trainers not Ash. Still bit surprised how little she's picked up about training at this point all things considered.

Twist at the end was a nice touch. Pokemon leaving nothing new, happens all the time in the anime. Though it's usually after they won a gym or accomplished something important. But it's a nice touch into the idea just being nice to a pokemon doesn't instantly make them all your friends.

Gotta say not usually a fan of OC pokemon fics, they tend to bring out the worst in fan fic writers for some reason. So far though this is pretty good and it touches on an interesting subject. Given pokeballs cost like 50p, less than a thing of lemonade or water far as I remember. Pretty much any one can have a pokemon.

Once you have one you should be allowed in places like the pokemon center, which offers free food and lodging... Not sure how long you can stay, though in the anime a couple times while training Ashe be at a pokemon center for a few days/weeks.

So the idea of people who'd rather be a trainer than homeless makes a lot of sense.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter, but don't worry about needing more time to write it. You've mentioned many times about you've gotten busy, so I understand, as I'm sure your other fans understand. Real life takes priority, so if you need to focus on that first before getting back to the story, then go ahead!

P.S. I know almost nothing about Pokémon from Unova and onwards (except Zekrom and Reshiram and some of the Pokémon in my brother's team in B/W), and it was through this story that I got to know Krelp. (I probably saw Dragalge before, but not this guy.) Anyway, just sharing, haha.

Okay, before I read the latest chapter, I'll write a short review. Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy this story as much as I do right now. In fact, this is the first OC-centered Pokémon fic I read (though I haven't read much).

For one, having Meowth as the starter was unexpected but I decided to roll with it anyway. Riley's a pretty good character so far, and I really enjoyed reading the part where she released Thorn. In fact, I probably, maybe, kinda, teared up a little...

But anyway, what I'm really looking forward to is when Krelp will evolve. And of course, Steven! More Steven is always nice.

I'll be reading the latest chapter next and I could already feel I'll be left on a cliffhanger. Hoo boy, here I go...
