I’ve heard people say that the world has become so absurd that satirizing it is now impossible. Of all things, a fan fiction has proved them wrong. Now that the main story is concluded, I want to examine it unironically. It’s fun to play along with the obvious character that is Americaverse Warlord, but I honestly believe this story has created a new sort of hyper-satire, of a sort that is only possible in this specific medium. This story goes after everything: politics, pop culture, internet subcultures, extremism, celebrities. Even after years of reading it, I can’t tell where the author actually stands on the political spectrum and what they think of any given issue, other than the fact it deserves ridicule.

There’s no reliance on intentional misspellings or nonsense as is so often found comedic or parody fan fiction. There’s internal consistency and the story is well written. Crude humour is juxtaposed with complex vocabulary. Battles are outrageously epic and juxtaposed with sudden non-sequitur sentences. The reader is never sure what they’re going to see next, but it’s bound to be laugh out loud funny if you’ve got the right sense of humour.

This story needs to be archived somewhere. One day it could be examined as a historical document, annotated for context like a Shakespearean play or Victorian novel. That sounds like hyperbole or irony, but I’m at least semi-serious about this. This is art. Sonic the Hedgehog: Make America Great Again is a legitimate reaction to our current culture and I find it absolutely fascinating.

I actually have no idea what I just read, but I read the entire thing anyway because GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Oh, damn... Is there going to be a part 3 of this fanfic? I mean, I'm happy with the world-building so far, but I feel like there's enough room for one more part. It seems like you're stacking up everything too quickly on those last chapters.

I mean, the entire fic the pacing and buildup was slow and satisfying, but now not only Meadowlark Lemon reveals himself at the last moment when Larry was being built up as the final boss, but there's also the unresolved and unbuilt-on conflict with the Globalists, and now Trump's return. We don't even know how 1488 is so omnipresent and how it came to be so important. If it all becomes solved in the very last few parts, it might seem like you rushed things.

And it's as Meadowlark Lemon said, this has happened thousands of times before. So having things as they are end here and everything be solved in the next timeline could be more satisfying and be more dramatic, with more chances to build up the final conflict. Course, that's only if you have enough material to work with for a whole new part for the story.
