I usually don’t read zombie AUs just because they scare the living crap out of me. However, you writing is always so beautiful and the way you write the characters is so deep and powerful that I couldn’t resist! And I’m glad I didn’t!

I'm glad you kept going with this story, and hopefully your muse will cooperate and help you add even more in the future. Definitely "felt" the danger as I was reading, and while I'm sad that everyone didn't get out cleanly (poor skeptical Martha!), I appreciate that it felt a lot more realistic this way. (I actually expected it to be Lanie that refused to believe and leave, so smart idea having her be out of town.)

I like this story a lot. I don't enjoy movies about zombies because I have a very visual mind and they give me nightmares. But I'm enjoying reading about it. I hope they all make it out alive.

You are an awesome writer but so wish this story was longer. So much material to go forward with. Delete the 'complete' and keep it going!

Poignant, yet hopeful...

This is pretty nit-picky but I thought they switched to the SUV at the Hamptons house? You mention Kate's cruiser when they get to the cabin. Also, at the end of the chapter Castle is driving, but then Kate is gripping the wheel. I just got hung up on those conflicting details. Overall this is a good story.
