Reviews for A Dramatic Reading |

moxaleine chapter 18 . 3/30/2020 Hey, just commenting to say that this is the best 'reading the books' fics that I've ever read. You manage to keep the characters in-character, add an actual plot and go over a bunch of cool theories. You don't waste time rewriting the entire book, instead putting in a summary of what goes on and adding the needed lines. The different point of views are awesome and you actually manage to make someone whos read dozens of these feel excited about reading the next chapter or about finding out more. Instead of it seeming like a way to just read and react to the books, you've managed to make it a full-fledged story that I cant wait to read more of. You've done a great job, Congratulations! |
siren8484 chapter 18 . 2/17/2020 This was the best "reading the book" I have ever |
Shian1998 chapter 18 . 2/9/2020 Excellent job with this story! Probably my favourite of all the characters-reading-the-books fanfics I've read, and I've read a lot of them over the years (most of which are gone now due to the various purges of those fics). I've always found this concept interesting and enjoy reading good ones, but you are right about most of them being terrible, because of all the reasons you've said plus others I can think of (very few of them last long, many of them are not well written, some have the characters acting OOC, etc). So happy that you've written a genuinely good version of this trope, and that you took it at least to the end of Philosopher's Stone and are supervising a sequel for it. Really enjoyed how the plot developed throughout this, especially with how; Hermione (and to a lesser extent Harry and their friends) questioned all the inconsistencies and pieced together what happened, the teachers realised how they had failed their students and actually took steps to improve on their flaws, Voldemort's survival was confirmed, Fudge and Umbridge were exposed for the corrupt tyrants they are, and Harry, Hermione, McGonagall, Dumbledore and Snape tried to figure out where the book came from and why it had been sent back in time. Loved how Harry managed to manipulate Umbridge into continuing to read through to the part that would vindicate him and leave enough rope to hang herself with. The changes that that alone brought out would definitely result in a much easier time at Hogwarts for him. Liked the way you wrote Dumbledore's plot here. Too many people people portray Dumbledore as either justified in everything he did or secretly evil, whereas you portrayed him as having good intentions, but seriously messed up methods. While he probably deserved some kind of punishment for his negligence and bad decisions, his knowledge and power makes him invaluable for the war, so I liked how it ended with him still at Hogwarts to teach and protect the students, but no longer in charge of the castle's operations. Also liked the rest of the staffing changes at the end. McGonagall is a suitable choice for Headmistress. Glad her failings pointed out that helping run the school and teaching at the same time is too much responsibility. Snape moving from a teaching position to becoming Deputy Headmaster benefits everyone; himself for no longer having to teach the students (a task he does not have the required patience for), the students for no longer having to be bullied by him, and Dumbledore for still being able to keep his spy close. Slughorn is somewhat annoying in my opinion, but at least he's a better candidate for teaching potions than Snape, and Dumbledore can eventually get the Horcrux memory from him. Hagrid is very loveable, and I've always found it uncomfortable to think badly of him, but it is true that while he means well he's not responsible enough to teach that subject. Liked that Kingsley and Tonks joined, as they are good people, competent, and able to provide protection. And Binns definitely needed to be replaced. Hated Umbridge and Fudge throughout the story. They would've caused a lot of damage had they stopped before Harry's side could be vindicated. It's also very frustrating when they make good points, as it feels sickening to agree with them. At least they eventually got their just deserts, and that Kingsley and Madam Bones can now do damage control within the Ministry. Fantastic story! Really enjoyed it! Onto the sequel by Srikanth1808 now. :) |
autumncat210 chapter 18 . 2/7/2020 It was good |
tibetisnotincanberra chapter 7 . 2/6/2020 I hope someone makes the connection further down the line that the squib is Filch. |
Ryuu842 chapter 1 . 2/1/2020 You're wrong. Having them actually read the book is better. It's easier to understand what they're commenting on. Anything else is boring and it sounds to broken. |
2Ilena chapter 11 . 1/12/2020 The theory that Voldemort is somehow connected because he might be the only other person that knows about a dream Harry forgot about doesn't really work in the sense that the books also shows things that neither Harry or Voldemort witnessed: like Minerva and Dumbledore's arrival at Private Drive, 4. Awesome work! |
Sheelahdog chapter 18 . 12/16/2019 This was excellent. Made a lot of sense, wasn't boring, and had a plot. Thanks! |
Sexy Meercat chapter 18 . 12/2/2019 Aaaaaarg! Where's the sequel? |
LunaLovegood201 chapter 15 . 10/29/2019 "Mars being bright" isn't meaningless. Hermione was wrong, it means that war is coming. The roman god Mars. |
No luck fangirl chapter 11 . 10/7/2019 This is brilliant |
No luck fangirl chapter 3 . 10/6/2019 "That's what it says, Minerva: ARGHHHHHH." GOD I laughed so hard with that! |
Guest chapter 17 . 8/5/2019 BOOM! I've always thought Dumbledore planned that. For those same reasons. I also think the planned a few other things, like hagrid vanishing and Ron and his family just appearing like that. And talking about platform 9 3/4 loud enough to where even harry could hear. And sometimes I feel like Ron and the weasley's, or maybe Ron and the mother and hermione and maybe, just maybe, Jinny hang out with harry because of the money benefits. Like maybe they, or Dumbledore wanted harry to die? And apparently the weasley's are really poor and can afford much. But it only really shows in the first movie. Like really shows. So maybe Dumbledore is paying them? I also think that maybe he let harry live in a somewhat abusive home so he'd be more willing to follow him, the "nice guy". And I feel like he's planned a few other things, but uts been awhile since I've read the books. Stucky took over my brain |
Rosa Mundi chapter 18 . 7/21/2019 That was a lot of fun, thank you. |
