ororo.munroe.3705 chapter 9 . 9/23/2017
oh my stars this is good
BrazeRancor chapter 9 . 9/14/2017
Hrm. Pretty good! At first I thought it was a weird alternative universe where fusion were uncontrollable monsters and the ban on fusing was a very reasonable thing. Then it turned out to be a 'therapist with mind control' kind of thing. Both options were entertaining enough.

Keep up the good work.

Update soon please! :)
Anonymous Person chapter 9 . 7/21/2017
Man, I'm repeating my comment which basically said this must be one hell of a mess to show up to. Especially relationship wise if this chapter was anything to go by.

Okay, on a different note. I quite like Bismuth's nickname for Garnet, Power Couple, it fits who Garnet is to the tee!
Anonymous Person chapter 3 . 7/21/2017
Wow, that has got to be one hell of a situation to suddenly find yourself in. Ugh, kinda agreeing with something Sakura said (Sakura as in the one from Naruto) "I've seen so much weird that it's getting hard to shock me"
Anonymous Person chapter 1 . 7/21/2017
Well, that does do wonders in explaining the confusion I had regarding this "Spinel" character.
Guest chapter 9 . 6/26/2017
Seriously, do you love making people sad?
Guest Gem chapter 9 . 6/17/2017
Oh, oh man. I know I've heard people discuss the mutual abusiveness of the Lapis-Jasper-Malachite relationship in addition to what Lapis said afterwards in canon, but this chapter went straightforward into a number of brutally honest points and perspectives. Of them, Lapis comparing herself to the mirror of all things and stating herself to be worse than it really took the cake for me. And to hear her want to go back to the blissful ignorance that Spinel's altered memories provided (and something tells me these consisted of Lapis simply being poofed in place of her time in the mirror an later revived by the Crystal Gems as opposed to Spinel coming up with 5,000 years of memories from scratch) is just stinging icing on that cake. While I don't think that going back to that ignorance is a good idea, I do think that she can take some solace in at least having a better idea of what a free life is like and even more resolve to cherish and defend what she and others now have. Some truths in life are hard to swallow, but they allow us to move on instead of remaining eternally stagnated and at risk of having our ignorance exploited. Still, Lapis will need time to heal, but at least she is open to communicating with others and Jasper.

On a semi-related note, I think the only other gem aside from Spinel that Lapis could have issues with is Bismuth. As far as I can tell from canon, as we have only been given snippets of Lapis and Bismuths' backstories, Lapis was probably brought to Earth alongside the Sapphire and Ruby of Garnet as a part of Blue Diamond's traveling Court, as seen with the very Lapis-like silhouette seen in the crowd of "The Answer". It can also be presumed that Lapis Lazulis are similar to Sapphires in being aristocrat-nobility-class gems due to their wearing of dresses and being non-security, non-technician, and non-servant members of Blue Diamond's court. However, while Sapphires are valued for the future-seeing, it is unknown how useful the water-manipulations of Lapis Lazulis are. The best guesses I've seen are them being used to remove bodies of water from planets as to allow them to be hollowed out, as once planets have been hollowed out, the only water sources appear to be tears (from Blue Diamond's Aura or Rose Quartzes) or water wings via Lazulis or Aquamarines (another likely member of Blue Diamond's Court that wears dresses but may be more oriented for special operations).

The bottom line is that a gem like Lapis would most definitely have qualified to be among the "nobility upper-crust aristocrats" that Bismuth personally despised in many of her lines/taunts. (Why Bismuth worked with Garnet despite her containing a Sapphire would appear to be out of belief that Crytal Gem Sapphire was "not like the others" and "had rejected and risen against her nefarious Homeworld ways", at least in my opinion.) As such, Bismuth may have specifically targeted someone like Lapis on the battlefield as both a personal grudge and a high-ranking/valued individual. Either way, while I have no idea what Spinel did for the relationship between Lapis and Bismuth, their next meeting is sure to be quite interesting.

Well, that's all I gots to say for now. Still looking forward to whatever comes next when you can manage it. Good luck! ;D
DragShot chapter 9 . 6/14/2017
*Louis voice* Pheelz here!

So, in this fic Lapis actually visualizes the whole thing and decides to affront it? Good, now that's the kind of character development I always wanted to see for her.

Who would say? From all this messed up manipulation something good had to come at least.

I'm looking forward to see more of the gems rebuilding their life. Also, I cannot help but wonder about the fate of our current prisoner.

Good chapter.
Guest Gem chapter 8 . 6/6/2017
I have no idea if my review influenced this chapter or if it was in your plans from the get-go, but it was well done and makes me happy anyways!

And once again, the reactions of characters are more composed than overly dramatic. Garnet was more willing to hear Bismuth out and leaver the latter with the possibility of her idea being discussed rather than dramatically overreacting and outright dismissing it by yelling out something like "OMG you want to shatter gemz?! How could you you monstah?!" :P

It also helps that Bismuths' memories/experiences, however paranoid and spiteful of Spinel though they have made her (and quite understandably so at that), may have also made her more willing to believe that Steven is not Rose and not panickedly resort to violence the minute that someone looks to be questioning her advocation for gem shattering. Her having more of a relationship and reason to trust Garnet compared to Steven probably also helped in addition to Spinel acting as a "hate sink" to direct any stress/discomfort/distrust towards.

One thing to consider about shattering gems though is the potential for the technology to be stolen and replicated by Homeworld in an act of "serial escalation" not too unlike Commissioner Gordon's speech at the end of Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins". Although the "Wanted" special did mention that there were fates worse than shattering, but this could be referring to the Diamond's ability to corrupt gems with their song (which we have yet to see if it is directable towards specific gems or can only be widely and indiscriminitely broadcast over a large area) or being "harvested" by being melted down and recycled - consciously alive! But these are more punishments and are less applicable to combat unless you don't mind sacrificing your own soldiers/people (like Homeworld!).

Hmm... Well I can't really think of anything else that I haven't already said in previous reviews. We still have Lapis to deal with, and you're probably waiting out on canon getting back from its latest hiatus to showcase Centi/Nephrite and her "semi-corrupted" crew. And of course Spinel later on.

But for now, good chapter and good luck with whatever you do next!
