Nope, still doesnt work with Grimmauld Place. The place was owned by Walpurga Black (at least I belive it was, because she lived there until her death) and she died after Sirius was already in Prison, so your explanation doesnt really help. Or is the backstory different here?

I am also highly doubtfull about about the fact that they would let Harry keep a XXXXX class creature (which breeding and most likely ownership off is illegal), who only listens to a Parselmouth (How could they know that? I dont believe that Basilisks or Parselmouths are very well studied).

Grimmauld Place? How the fuck did they get into Grimmauld Place? Wasnt Andromeda disinherited? How would she get into the house? And I think one of the other Blacks was still alive at that time (I believe either Polux or Acturus died only in the year Harry started getting his Hogwarts letters)

So glad that you updated, good chapter, I believe you did well in your introductions for Harry to Hogwarts and it's inhabitants without the bias a majority of us have formed. My only issue is with how quickly you came up with a name for Selena. Before she was making a big deal about choosing her own name, and then you have her pick a name out of a list. Otherwise really enjoyed it and I hope that we don't have to wait a year for the next chapter.

So far, this is the best "harry hatches a basilisk" I've found. The characters are believable, the dialogue is flowing and natural. No-one seems to be a simple caricature or plot device. Great job, please, keep it up. I'd love to see where you're going with this. Also, excellent idea, including Scamander & Obsurials. Adds more depth to Rowling's rather 2-d setting. As well as that part about how Basilisks are portrayed as straight-up monsters. Very nice touch, possible foreshadowing, also, underling the wizarding world's reactionary culture & state of mind, but in a small, understated way. Bravo. Truly, Bravo. -Badpressure

Thoroughly enjoying the story so far. I will reserve further judgement depending on a good reasonable explanation on why Ron would be with Hermione and not Neville. While I've noticed you've toned down Hermione and Rons attitude, which doesn't bother me, I don't see him voluntarily going out of his way to help in a search.
Without a good reason, that scene just feels entirely forced and pushed to try and set up the "Golden Trio".
