People say that the old man easily defeats Superman. I don't agree, in fact, quite the opposite.
Superman easily defeats the old man, for one simple reason. Speed.
Superman is so fast that before a thought takes shape in the old man's mind, Superman can finish it off. But obviously that's no fun, so as always, speed is nerfed in all comics.
