![]() ![]() ![]() Is Susan Abbott a portmanteau of Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones? Or is the name similarity to two canon Hogwarts students a coincidence? |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is great. Wouldnt mind seeing it expanded and continued. |
![]() ![]() Legilimancy - Legilimency |
![]() ![]() ![]() Recognized Toltiir straight off, and was wondering if you'd actually name him. He's always fun. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Kryptonian Harry has been done a bit much. If only your muse had leaned toward Lobo or instead of Saiyajin maybe Cell, Freiza, or Majin Buu. O.k. Majin Buu seems more of a Ron thing. Just had the idea of Beerus, and Sirius wondering why Harry looks part dog. O.k. That'd only be good for a one-liner laugh at best. possibility 1 I enjoyed the entire bit except Hermione having play exposition girl. Oh, the content and presentation was well done. It wasn't until I went back through trying to think of something to mention that it hit me. Hermione knowing comic book characters? O.k. It's Superman. Any and every muggle-born should know of Superman. It's just the more unfortunate bit that Hermione happened to be the muggleborn around to mention it to the wizards. It would have been a good bit for Dean or Seamus or any other background character to blink and make the comment. possibility 2 The only bit that struck me as odd was that Harry wasn't using "family magic" or "personal magic" for all that Shazam or other unknown magic stuff. It's interesting that every bit of that "personal magic" is being limited by the Hogwarts Staff. I can see the bit on Quidditch as anything other than some base safety spells might totally ruin the sport. I'm just saying that there are usually enough pureblood or family backdoors that as long as he used that excuse, and it was all magic, he should have been fine. I guess a reason that family magic wouldn't be acceptable for Hogwarts is that only Family would know it and how to properly grade it. The Staff at Hogwarts wouldn't actually know what he was doing and couldn't legally ask either. possibility 4 I have no idea who he was the son of here. It seemed sort of Percy Jacksonish, but I still couldn't ID who Harry's parent was. I actually thought he was half pokemon before that section. "Fine. You take the next one!" responded Harry. "You want to criticize, YOU take over." Best Lines Ever. I'd almost like this pair to briefly met other versions of your Harrys and Hermiones. Could you just see it? possibility 5 There were lots of fun bits in this one. I enjoyed the part where Daphne wanted the position under Harry. I liked Ron showing off his club. I'm startled that Harry could only knight folks. There isn't anything for him to make a royal scholar title? He was pretty much just making folks happy and trying not to do anything of any importance. I enjoyed the bit with the Queen at the end there. The only stray thought that hit me about this. Is I wonder if the Queen has any granddaughters Harry's age? That would be a sort of required thing in order for her family to keep being the royal family. I could actually see Harry going along with it. If he didn't there might be a future civil war or the magicals wouldn't recognize the mundane government as they've now got their own official royal lineage and all. It'd be much safer all around for Harry to marry into the existing Royal family. I'd love to see Petunia's face after that. possibility 6 I can see this working. Dragon skin is magically resistant. That doesn't mean that its throat or the mouth of a dragon has the same magic resistance. About my only remote complaint about this? You have Harry mention that Toltiir is the god of pranks, the twins seem to get somewhat interested in it, but it is not really developed. Just felt like it was a wasted setup. I was waiting for them to get their own scene or idea thread. Nothing. I was just waiting for Harry to become a shrine priest and various folks come by the shrine and leave blessed. The Shrine is still known as the Shrieking Shack. If you ever need a crazy plot bunny to start off. Second Year during the entire heir thing, well Hermione and Ron slightly avoid Harry in an effort to keep what other friends that they have. Harry stumbles across Luna, and she teaches him about some of her family gods including Toltiir. Luna likes to walk around in the forbidden forest and Harry joins her. They discover the Shrieking Shack and get the wild idea for Harry to be the Shrine Priest and Luna his Shrine Maiden. It might have also had to do with some manga that Luna shared with him. (Slayers, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon, Shrine of the Morning Mist. You know manga shrine priests and maidens) Well, anyway the pair devote it as a personal shrine to Toltiir to bless pranks, pranksters, make general mischief and the fun sort of chaos. The rest just expands when you think about it. I had to use the second year so that Harry and Luna were in place before the 3rd year started and had no fear of going to their shrine even though dementors were about. Even if they were mainly a sibling pairing, it could still be rather fun to think about. Have you read the Hogwart's Rejection Letters where Harry was raised by someone else and pretty much is saying hell no to going to Hogwarts? With your mention of a grue, I was thinking of dark minions/monsters that the dark lord failed to recruit. You'd need a list. On one line is a colony of grue. Twenty DEs killed and never found a grue. Thinking about the Kryptonian bit, it wouldn't help him if all the natural methods of creature magic still worked and direct and indirect magic still worked fine if it hit him. That assumes that he hasn't developed super speed and just isn't there when you try to hit him. It would be funny if he did a basic neck chop to physically stun/take down most of the physical threats. On the child of the wrong god... I could just see one where folks were convinced that Harry was the son of Loki, Thanatos, Hermes, and them being totally wrong. Harry as the son of Toltiir in a Percy Jackson verse cross. It'd be even funnier if you had put the local aspect of Death of the Endless having a slight crush on him. Hmm, I could also see Harry getting some of that Murphy fellow's blood through Evan's line. I can see Petunia with either the plant growth or magic nullifier ability. Actually, I'd see Vernon with the null power set. What just because he didn't know about it and hates it, doesn't mean that he wouldn't have a power like that. I could see him just nodding. That's the perfect power for him. He could keep on pretending that powers don't exist as they generally don't around him. Actually, Petunia might do even better with a neatness/cleaning aura. Petunia with some House Elf Powers or blood with Vernon's powerset negating it while he was around? I'm having some rather odd thoughts. |

![]() ![]() ![]() While the stuff with Death was neat, I'm mostly interesting in the new school. Sounded really interesting. Be neat to see a more fleshed out story revolving around it. Also funny how Hermione fumbled her way into being a super martial arts badass. |
![]() ![]() A intriguing and enjoyable collection, well done. Hoping you had a Merry Christmas. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hermione stole this. I love it though. I was all expecting Harry to be in Percy's house. Nope. You tossed him with the smiths. Thinking about it, it does make sense. I'm mixed on the time skip to the tournament. One thing that I'd advise thinking about adding is a scene with Hermione's parents. I want to see their reaction to hearing that somehow their daughter got sorted with the sporty house rather than the bookworm house. The lesson there, Hermoine, is never admit just how easy a test is. Just do your best and pass it. I bet next time she won't comment on the difficulty or she'd stick around to solve the harder puzzle rather than figure out the other option. I thought that Harry might have been trained up a bit more. Then I thought why? He might have just been taught the basics of mediating and not getting beat up by older bullies. There is no reason to think that he would have been like Ranma or something. It would be more than he was actually trained and had the basic benefits that would give to any kid his age. I'm sort of disappointed that Dudley didn't manage to go along with him. I'm sort of mixed with them getting the squib bit. I figured that they should already be squib level. It just really didn't add anything to them. What really caught my attention was magic not being used in the normal manner. It would have been so much more interesting if you gave them a twist so that their squib magic was just expressed rather differently than a wand wizards. More of a builtin talent/quirk than anything else. I loved how Harry thought that Hermione was a badass-in-training. I liked seeing the results of mad rune experimenter Harry. I got the feeling that his gift to Hermione was actually a bribe to be on his team with all the bells and whistles that he could think of up that she might use. I loved her reaction upon receiving a gift from a boy. That made it extra special. I was amused at the Prinnies. Thinking about it, Disgaea seems to really only have 4 styles of combat magic. Fire, Ice, Wind, and Star. (Well for wizards and not including all the support stuff.) I could see them picking up those sorts of spells. Actually, they seem to be training more like say a Fate/Stay Mage Association Enforcers. Think mainly physical combat mage. It's not so much wizard cast fist, but all that ki stuff is more builtin boosts to make them a rather human plus. I could easily see Hermione basically holding a body reinforcement, protect, shell, and haste on herself if she could. I couldn't stop laughing at the Take responsibility and You better take care of me lines. Oh, those were great. I was sort of disappointed that Death didn't ask Susan to teach at the school. She'd have been a fun history teacher. She also has a method of teaching practical things as well that you really need to know. Considering that Atlantis does the school dungeon crawls, that tournament shouldn't really be that big of a deal. I could see where the older students would be pissed, but wouldn't really be irked at Harry. He wasn't there and well if he put in a remotely good showing well that just shows how well their school is. For some reason, I think that the Atlantis fliers might be far better at things and useful in day to day combat things. They seem like the type that would be tested in what they could do now. This would be an interesting one to fully develop into a fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() You know you will fall to the Dark Side and write an HP fic, those scenets, would not be able to satiate you for long, come and taste the cookie! Great as always, stay awesome and happy new year! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Loved it, made me laugh out loud several times and pass the link on to friends. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like the idea that Hermione is a demi-god. The comments that Snape and McGonagall about her essays is a nice touch. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The "multiple time travelers" thing is an interesting idea, although my story on it isn't quite as silly as yours. It's odd that I had a similar idea about Susan as you did, wonder why that is - perhaps a fanon characterization. |
