So if the fiendfyre was strong enough to destroy the entire clearing that means that they died for absolutely no reason and were just being idiots. It's not like they were going there plundering for treasure they went there to destroy something.

Really? Someone just wanders off from the group of people getting checked and no one in the entire group even thinks to notice or was even bothering to keep an eye on the yet to be checked? I get that it stokes drama but it feels a bit forced.
