![]() ![]() ![]() whatever you may say about botw material your take is honestly really original, coupled with your writing style, this is a lovely unique angle on our favorite story and then some 3 |
![]() ![]() ![]() So I’ve spent my past week reading OLY, and I’ve found it a truly fantastic read. Having just completed BOTW, reading this has been a fantastic way to clarify most of the plot points that were left up to the players interpretation. I know your story isn’t gospel, but I lack the creativity and imagination myself to fill in the plot holes. This story has brought the whole game to a satisfying conclusion and for that I thank you. I felt your characterisations of Link and Zelda fitted those of which I have in my head. I personally felt, given the various dialogue options available in the game, that your version of Link suited this games incarnation perfectly. It was a very long, very true slow burn story, yet it never felt dragged out. Every word read like it was supposed to be there, never feeling unnecessary or boring. I adored your style of writing, and I’m looking forward to reading some of ur previous and future works. Thank you for a fantastic read, I really appreciate that you made this incredible story available for anyone to read, it has been a pleasure |
![]() ![]() Stumbled upon this long after you finished posting and I just have to say it's one of the best works I've read on this site. You're characterizations and love for this franchise seeped through your words and i honestly couldn't put down my phone as I read this in almost 2 days. I think my boyfriend thinks theres something wrong with me lol. Seriously though amazing work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just discovered this fic, and was immediately enamored by it and slammed through it in one night. You have done an amazing job at characterization unlike anything I've seen of BotW fics and the ways you expand the story in between the memories feel so right that I forgot I was reading a fanfic. What an amazing experience to read. Regards, -Matt |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks... but BotW 2 tho |
![]() ![]() ![]() Extraordinary, simply stunning. I can not give you high enough praise for the writing, continuity, and character this story seeps in every paragraph. Consider yourself one of my favorite writers. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hold up... The silent Princess... In Zelda's study...YOU MAGNIFICENT SON OF A GUN! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow! I like it... You made me cry reading this. Just like me, it was painful to see what Hyrule transformed into and rather than reading Link and Zelda's romance, it was more the relationships they had with other people, their grief, happy, sad moments, well there was everything. I'm sorry if my English isn't that fluent, my native language is Spanish, but... Thank you for this great story. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just finished reading this over a few days and wanted to say that I really enjoyed it! I thought that you developed their characters believably and it had a kind of catharsis in it that matched well with the theme of loss and grief you spoke of. My only dislike was the 'possession' theme. I'm not say that it's bad or anything. I am just not fond of the theme that a male need to feel like he has to possess a woman to love or help her. I recognise that some people like that and that some feel that way as well. Thank you so much for writing such a lovely, thoughtful story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is one of my absolute favorite legend of Zelda stories. I just finished re reading it, and even though I knew what was coming next, it made no difference to the amount of times I laughed and cried at nearly every moment of this story! It amazes me how much thought, detail, and time was put into each chapter. I think that one of my favorite parts of this story is how it was told. It starts out with where Link and Zelda are now, and even though Zelda is supposed to be telling the story, it's from Links point of view. So you told us what Link was feeling 100 years ago, but not what he is feeling now, and visa versa for Zelda! Gosh there's a lot of... wondering and anticipation that is felt, and I think that comes off from Link and Zelda themselves. So amazing job with the characters too! Yes, the characters, there really was so much LIFE put into them! With Zelda, she was not simply a frustrated girl who couldn't harness the sealing powers. She was a teenage girl! With confusing emotions and other feelings! My goodness so many feelings haha! And same for Link. I'm finding that people tend to focus on the absolute despair that they feel, so much so that their entire character is shaped to be depressed and overwhelmed with duty. That is, of course, what happened (as told by the game itself), but there was so much more character development. With their love for each other (goddesses that was so cute yet frustrating to read haha!), overcoming their stubbornness, and so much more! Link though, what a goofy idiot! I love his personality in this story, it cracks me up! I'll be sitting somewhere reading this, and suddenly just start laughing out loud! One line that I'll never get out of my head is. '' 'Har,' Link replied intelligently.''. I don't know why but I can never stop laughing at that line! XD And there are many, many moments in this book where I'll cry too. You're right in saying that we can't go though what they've been though and come out unaffected. This story is an emotional turmoil for I think nearly anyone who reads it. It really allowed me to feel everything that they were feeling, and even left a little room for my own experiences in life to wiggle their way into the story, if that makes sense. And you're advice written in the story and authors' notes is very inspiring. How grieving is a way of letting go, and understanding that some things are gone, and no matter what they won't come back. But there is a whole lifetime to heal, even if there's ups and downs. And some things wont get magically better too, you gotta work for them! With Zelda and Link's relationship, they had to work out their stubborn pride and learn to get along, even if it wasn't easy. I'm sure you already know these things, since you're the one who said them, I just felt like writing it down I suppose :) So thank you for writing this story! I truly love it. By the way, I really enjoy the other stories you've written too, you're an amazing author! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This was beautiful. I wish I could have a hard cover of it. I've always liked Legend of Zelda, but Breath of the Wild kindled my love of it. As you said, it is a story of grief and love and contains so much depth, I couldn't help be drawn in. Your story did wonders for the game's lore and I wish this would be adopted as canon. God bless and thanks for letting my join the ride. It's going on the favorites! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This story was one I read the entirety of in the span of six hours. I haven't done that with a fan-fiction, let alone a novel or proper book, in a very long time. This story captured what I love about Zelda as a franchise and seeing how you had the fantastic build up of Link and Zelda's bond across the entire adventure was... To say rewarding is putting it lightly. Link and Zelda's personalities, while captured in the game proper, were so much more fleshed out here and seeing the memories explored in new ways and expanded upon was fantastic. So many nice touches too with new incarnations of fan-favorites like Groose showing up here were fun. But I couldn't get enough of Zelda and Link. You get into their minds so affectively, I deeply connected with them. Link is a character here that... I can't believe is so multilayered. He isn't just the silent hero that throws posts around and shouts battle cries/grunts. He is a young man with his own wants, desires and connections with others. And the fact you build up on his bond with Zelda and really hammer home the love they have for one another... I felt his fustration at the situation and how hopeless it was at points. And the fights they had were beyond realistic. Zelda herself is by far my favorite incarnation of her in this story. She isn't that in-tune with magic and doesn't directly 'fight', but she doesn't need too to be a poweful, strong, witty and active heroin. She really worked well off of link and seeing the two of them become best friends over a long span of time was beautiful. So many moments made me nearly cry or want to scream at the two of them just completely misunderstanding one another. The Interludes you have were also great touches, showing us how Link and Zelda reacted to their past brought to the present day. The twist near the end with Link surprised me and was a very unique wrinkle for the story. I can't wait to see more work from you and hopeful you dive into the world of Zelda again in the near future. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This This is what Breath of The Wild should have been from the very beginning. Or at least this is what I wished I experienced. Don't get me wrong, BOTW is easily one of the best Zelda game I had the pleasure to play, I just thought it lacked interactions between its characters. Most of it being hinted in cutscene or journal entries. I mostly felt loneliness and sadness, which is probably what the devs intended by putting us in the shoes of a Link having to face the aftermath of the Calamity. But this story... I literally lost sleep over it. I spent the last few days reading chapters after chapters, laughing, crying, feeling the emotions I so much needed to experience to really, fully appreciate the work of art that is Breath of the Wild. Maybe I lack imagination or empathy, but nonetheless, you made me fall in love with a game all over again. And now that a sequel is in the works, I can't wait to see how Link and Zelda's relationship will evolve. Speaking of which... Do you intend to write your own sequel once the game is out? I'd gladly read it if you did, but I'd understand if you didn't In any case, it truly has been a wonderful journey. And I can't thank you enough for that. Best regards Xaehttium |
![]() ![]() ![]() Phenomenal. Absolutely stunning. I am glad to have gotten through dark times in my life to have been able to find, read, and finish this masterpiece. I mean that without pretense, this is a masterpiece. I don't know if I can properly express what a fantastic experience this has been for me. Breath of the Wild was such a fantastic game with so many beautiful, mysterious, and emotional elements; you captured it all perfectly. I sincerely hope you continue to write - for fanfiction or otherwise - because your skill for capturing every wonderful and heartbreaking detail is unparalleled. I resonated with your final end note, that the undertone of BOTW is definitely grief. It was a game that brought melancholy with every ruin I came across, every time I stepped into a relic of a ravaged land that had barely survived its apocalypse. Once again, thank you for writing this and phenomenal work. 10/10. |
