![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, brava! Beautifully done. Lois's emotional journey (only just begun) was so well portrayed. Her bubbling anger at everyone. Her lack of reaction to the Bruce Wayne reveal. Her derision of Martha. Her very slow opening to Diana. All of it felt so *right*. And so did all of the other characters, even Diana's mocking reply to Bruce's smooth attempt at recovery. My heart went out to Martha. I admired Alfred's quiet grace. I was annoyed with Bruce, even though he was helping. And I respected Diana, even though Lois disliked her. Beautiful job bringing in references to the Wonder Woman movie. You know how to write the subtleties of these characters so well. I love the ending, how you finished with something that was right for the characters and their situation, but is also good for us readers to meditate on. And WOW, that distinction between good deeds and a sacrifice of your own life—and how the old ways hold deeper wisdom than all of our modern noise—so well expressed by a character who *would* see the world in such terms! These kinds of themes elevate this short story out of the realm of mere angsty vignette and into storytelling with philosophical teeth. Brava! |
