All the in-breeding hence the deformities

This story is hilarious. But it got me thinking. Is it really true that 20 pounds was enough for Debtor's prison? If it's true then Mr Darcy dropped the ball big time in the first 2 thirds of the novel, especially in regards to Wickham, moreso than it usually seems. Which really means that his paying for Lydia's marriage was really quite fairly due and he wasn't exaggerating when he said he needed to pay 10k because it was literally his fault Wicham was able to pray on children in Hertfordshire in the first place.

I didn’t think I would be able to finish this chapter because I was laughing so much. Reading this certainly makes light of not being able to sleep. It’s three in the morning, but what fun this book has turned out to be, I just had to finish it. Thanks so much.

This is so funny. Mr Darcy is still befuddled, bemused and confused and Wickham got given the run around and his just desserts, Lydia is not as silly as usual and the ladies of Meryton are formidable. Great.
