It's great to see another chapter. 'Discoveries' is right. They are both learning more of each other. It was nice to see them both managing in their new environments.

Mr Adams is an interesting character for sure and Adam has met his match. I hope this visit to Boston is straight up and there are no unpleasant surprises for him.

Maybe you should research the history of Virginia City and that part of the country in general? Plus Cartwright history and backstory? They were one of the first to settle in the area that became Virginia City when Adam was about nine and Hoss around three; which would have been after was discovered near Sutter's Fort where they lived for a short time. Ben then moved his two young sons to the east of the Sierras because of the miners ruining the land in the Sacramento Valley. There probably would only have been few children scattered around the Washoe at that time;much to few for a school. Adam more than likely would have had some school at Sutters Fort for the short time they would have been there.
Since the first silver miners on the Comstock Lode didn't bring their families, there probably weren't enough children to have a school until Adam was past school-age and Hoss in the last few years that he would be going to school. Joe would probably not started school till he was six because of his mother dieing when he was five. There might even not have been a school till after Hoss was of school age. Adam would have been a full grown man and Hoss almost grown by the time Joe started school. Also, there would have been plenty of days when Joe missed school in the winter living in a place where snow is measured in feet rather than inches
