|Reviews for Suicide Is Stainless|
| Girl.Interpreted chapter 13 . 6/6/2007
A nearly perfect session. So good, it could have been the movie.
Every so often in fanfiction I come across something where the term "Fanfic Writer" feels inadequate. You are a "Writer" through and through, no perfunctory disclaimer required.
What struck me most about this piece is how amazingly insightful you were. In a universe where the characters most often occlude their emotions and motivations, you were able to get to the heart of them without going over the top. I specifically remember a part where Faye realizes that Spike hardly ever opens his mouth, and yet it's like he never shuts up. She finds herself trying to get a word in edgewise in a one-sided argument. Or, when Spike contemplates that Jet has broken an unspoken law between them by prying into his past, his emotions: something unbecoming of professionals- of men. There were tons of little genius bits like this, but those two come to mind for some reason.
Stainless was a perfect allegory, as well as an engaging and believable original character. And I think, a better foil for Spike than even Vincent. By the time I was finished reading this, Spikes actions at the end of the series had a richer, more understandable motivation behind them.
I don't even know where to begin with your gift for description. From something as broad as the arena for the final fight, to something as simple as Spike exhaling a lungful of smoke, your descriptions were smooth, inventive, and just utterly gorgeous.
Obviously, I LOVED it! Thank you for writing it! I'm just sorry it took me so long to find this story.

This was actually very well written and intune with the feel and style of an actual episode. Nice job.
Also I checked out the artwork for it and was highly amused with all the different faces in the pic of the ring. Give props to the artist for me would ya.

Why the hell have I not reviewed this story yet? It's been on my list of favorites for a very long time. I suppose I'm just inconsiderate and lazy. And another thing, why the hell does this fiction not have hundreds upon hundreds of gushing reviews, singing praises to your incredible writing style, characterization, and overall creativity for developing a thoroughly believable plot? What? I mean, what? This is the best Cowboy Bepop fiction out there, and I have a read quite a few in my day. So why isn't this fiction getting lavished with the attention it deserves? I'd fire my agent if I were you.
Your characters are rich, absolutely creamy and good to the last drop. You also hold true to the personalities and tendencies of the characters, which is a feat in itself. This fiction plays out like a second Bebop movie, and each chapter is tastier than the last.
Good job. Very good job.

Have I ever told you how much I LOVE Stainless.
Can you PLEASE write another fic about Stainless? Or revisit him in a future fic? PLEASE? I wanna know what happens to him *gives puppy eyes* I like him . . . . I, unlike most of the crew of Bebop, hell, probably even Spike, think he's sweet . . . ok, maybe sweet's not the word . . . but he's tragic. Even more so than Spike. And . . . and, oh, there's just something about him!
Damn it, you've done the practically impossible. There is only one other author I can think of who has done this. You have made an author created character that I, Acacia Jules (with all her various nicknames) LIKES! AND I LOTHE THOSE! WITH A PASSION! I usually start ranting, TO THE AUTHOR when I read a fic centered around one. But Stainless. He was just . . . he had something.
*sigh* I don't know.
*sniff* *sniff* . . . *sob* I'm gonna miss him . . . . .

Wow, it finally ends. While this was an incredible ending and well worth the wait, I'm still really sad that there'll be no more Suicide is Stainless for me to read. You wrote an incredible story here and should be proud of it. This is one of the best Bebop fics I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Great job! :)

::pounce:: You be a god.

Hey, are you sure you don't ghost write for the series? Great fic. Keep writing.
Everyone is is right in character. Writing style right on.

Bravo. Thank you so much for giving this to us.
| Stefanie Dale chapter 13 . 8/11/2003
Yay! *giggles* Wonderful, wonderful story! I loved it so much!
You have a wonderful eye for detail, but never overdid it or made it distracting. Again, as I've said, your characterizations are dead-on, and all the dialogue is realistic. Nothing was stilted.
I loved Steele! He was a very fleshed out, 3D character. There were numerous times when I felt so bad for him, which shows how talented you are.
*chuckles* This was a very "Waltz for Zizi" chapter indeed. *listening to said song* It was perfect, and I would reccomend anyone who has the song to put it on repeat while reading this chapter, or at least during Spike's and Steele's conversation.
Thank you for writing this fic and sharing it with us!
| SirusPolaris chapter 13 . 8/10/2003
I really really enjoyed this fic. It was deep and followed the languid Bebop flow perfectly; not an ounce of OOC. Stainless Steele was a deep, multi-faceted character that the readers couldn't help get attatched to, and all hopefull fans were thankful that he- also following Bebop traditions- got away.
I also liked the small Faye blerbs, because they were so funny. _ "It's bad enough that I have to die of starvation. The last thing I need is to show up to my funeral with bags under my eyes."
Anyways, great job, I can't wait to read more of your work. It's so original and fleshed out with interesting perspective.
| Jeva chapter 13 . 8/10/2003
Well, this fic had me grinning at the end! And I guessed the message too ." CUSC. That's really cute. ."
Aw...such a great fic ." Hope to see more from you! I really had fun reading this! Ja ne! .!

God you are so awesome! No seriously, you are hands down the best overall writer on ffnet. If you're not already a writer by occupation, you should definitely become one because you're writing is absolutely amazing. You've hit everything dead on: the characters, setting, description-everything. This story had me rivetted from beginning to end, and it doesn't even revolve around more than one main character. The character of Stainless Steele was a truly fascinating original character, and I loved the way his existence served to further develop the character of spike. You took your time to properly develop the plot, and the denouement was well paced and not-overly predictable. Your story read like a CB movie...I could definitely see this transformed into animated form (in my head anyway). The plot left me guessing most of the time - it was so chock full of subtle nuances. I honestly had to look up a word on average 5 times per chapter..and that's rare for me on ffnet (not that big words equal good writing, but you definitely used them well). Anyway, great story. You are definitely on my favourites list. AArk... I'm oozing with envy. If I'm showering you with compliments it's because you deserve it and because I want to be you! :o) Well done.
P.S. Would you consider doing a Faye/Spike story if you decide to write another one? You've got their interactions down cold. It would be interesting to see how you would conceive of them getting together if spike survived his post-stainless death.
| Senyor G chapter 12 . 8/4/2003
Heh. Another great chapter, probably my favorite thus far. An impressive fight scene and an unexpected ending. Eagerly waiting for the last chapter.
| Case chapter 12 . 8/2/2003
Fantastic. Absolutely marvelous. Yours is the only one I've read that's as moving, descriptive, and true to character as our own memories of the series.
A few spelling errors, but they're minor-a few changes will make the your work positively sterling. I look forward to your last chapter, and hope to see another work from you in the future.
| Stefanie Dale chapter 11 . 7/29/2003
You mentioned me! **_** I'm all giddy now. Thank you!
The song titles you use for the chapter titles fit so well, this chapter especially.
I thoroughly enjoyed Spike and Faye's conversation. It all rolls together so very naturally, just like the series. You definitely have a knack for it!
All the characters flow together. Everything fits together, and nothing seems stilted. *chuckles* And you're right - Steele has a lovely talent for inadvertently knowing the perfect way to get on Jet's and Faye's bad side.
Oh, I wish I could say more, but I'm gonna be later for work if I don't leave now. Again, excellent work, wonderful characterizations, great story!
