This was great. Harrowing, but great. Some how I'm not convinced Ron's entirely a figment of Harry's imagination. Maybe Ron's in some kind of near death state and his spirit is wandering? I'm just speculating here, I don't expect you to explain. Thanks for posting.

Wow, I like the idea of Fawkes choosing Ron. That's original. The talk between Hagrid and Dumbledore was good. There's no one who hasn't made mistakes, and doesn't have regret. Part of being a good friend and a good person is not judging others so harshly. Dumbledore seeking absolution from Hagrid seemed fitting. Thanks for posting.

On your author's note, I couldn't agree more with what you said about Ron's relationship with Harry, Hermione and his family. Both Harry and Hermione constantly take Ron for granted. The only time they notice him is when he's not there, then they're angry at him because their lives are harder. Ron does make mistakes, but Harry and Hermione are hardly perfect. I get so exhausted by all the bashers who drag Ron over the coals while ignoring everyone else's flaws. Harry's extremely self-centered, and Hermione is abrasive and rather irritating. If all the fangirls who adore Hermione so much actually knew a real Hermione, they would detest her. I also wonder if all the Ron bashers are saints who have no clue what jealousy feels like. Being jealous is normal. Harry and Hermione also get jealous, but they're forgiven, But Ron being jealous is some how a major character flaw and both Harry and Hermione ought to kick him to the curb according to the bashers. You writing a realistic, dark story about if Ron hadn't come back intrigues me. All the Ron haters act like it would have been wonderful if he hadn't come back. My honest first thought is always, 'Yep, then Harry would have drowned. Wonderful.' Obviously, you're not going to have that happen. As for the trouble you have about writing sex scenes, forget about it! There are plenty of smutty stories out there; how many do we need? I also struggle to write sex and/or romantic scenes. I'm not asexual, I enjoy sex very much, but I have an offbeat sense of humor. Even in RL, every time I (or a loved one) tries to act romantic or alluring, my gut response is to giggle. I just can't take it seriously. When I try to write it, I always laugh as well, which pretty much wrecks my muse. I look forward to your new story.
