|Reviews for She Brought Warmth To His Life|
| isaacswolfsbane chapter 1 . 10/30/2017
How the heck have you made me feel sorry for Lucius Malfoy? Am I just tired or was that actually really touching?
I love a good flashback, I'm such a sucker for them (as you can probably tell from that last few months fanfaves). I think you used them excellently and they really added to the story, telling perfect moments of his life to show off just how much his family did actually mean to him, even if you don't get to see it all that much in canon.
Your descriptions of Azkaban and the effect it has on Lucius is so well written, too. I can imagine exactly how he's feeling and what it must be like for him (probably as cold as my damn flat is right now) and that he's comparing it to Narcissa's warmth is just so adorable.
Great job :)
| Duke157 chapter 1 . 10/28/2017
This was awesome. I have read this before, when you first posted it and it's still just as good now.
Almost no SPaG mistakes and an amazing vocabulary. It's part of the reason why people seem to like your work so much.
I don't particularly like Lucius and I usually portray him as a heartless bastard. This may change that and I don't know whether to hate or to thank you that.
| Fire The Canon chapter 1 . 10/27/2017
Oh... my... Merlin... Bex, I loved this. I loved this so much. A Lucissa fic that actually has them marrying and in love for the right reasons. OMG, my favourite kind!
This was written so beautifully, with your descriptions of Lucius in prison and his regret, while he reflected and was kept sane with his love and memory for Narcissa. I just loved all the words you used... ALL OF THEM.
And his gratefulness towards Harry was nice as it showed growth, and genuine love for his wife and son. Bless them all.
I just loved this, Bex. A lot.
| NeonDomino chapter 1 . 10/26/2017
Okay, so I love the way you've written Lucius. You haven't tried to justify his actions or anything - you've written him as a bad guy, but shown that there is a good side to him that's filled with love for his wife. I adore your flashbacks, they are really well written and flow well between the sections of the story, showing his love for Narcissa.
I'm sure you're aware of just how much I love the whole love at first sight idea, and you portrayed that excellently here. I love the dedication they show to each other, with Lucius only wanting Narcissa to remember that he loves her - it appeared that he thought he wouldn't make it through those 5 years - and she promised to wait - and she did.
I love the way you wrote this pairing. I've not read a fic written quite like this! Good job! :D

Hey look at that! I can finally leave you a review for this fic!
First of all I never read Lucius but it has been a joy to read your depictions of him. I thought the characterisation was perfect and his love for his wife is really beautifully portrayed. I really enjoyed the way you entwined the memories and the present day in sections. It was really sweet to see the background. There were a few typos, i.e. in the guards speech right at the very end, but I didn't really notice them.
| The Lady Rogue chapter 1 . 10/25/2017
In all honesty, I've never liked stories with flashbacks in, however you've done them well. Telling the story of their love in this manner was adorable, and I love that Narcissa is what defines Lucius' happy memories. The ending, however, is what made this fic for me. I am a total sucker for happy endings, and this one just made me squeal with delight. The fact that their love had endured throughout their entire lives, despite all they've been through, is the sort of soppiness I just can't get enough of! Some very minuscule syntax fixes: 'He remembered the very first time that he saw [had seen] her.' 'Be grateful, [for] without the words of Harry Potter.'
| Zivandre chapter 1 . 10/24/2017
Oh my, such wonder and sadness and love all wrapped up into one. I never really feel bad for Canon Lucius, but you've made my heart ache! You wrote this so wonderfully and beautifully, I can really see all of this happening! Your flow and SPaG was amazing, and I had no problem immersing myself into this! Great work!
| Emiliya Wolfe chapter 1 . 10/24/2017
Confession, I actually read your fics last night but was too tired to review.
I always enjoy Lucissa pairings; I feel like they redeem each other with their love for their family. I love the way it was love at first sight, but that they didn't get together till after Lucius had graduated, because he felt like it wasn't "proper". Such pure bloods.
I was a little confused, wondering how the Dementors hadn't come and sucked out all his happy thoughts, and then I remembered that it was post war.
The only problem I have with this is that Harry got Lucius off with 5 years. Draco? Sure. Narcissa? Certainly. But I can't imagine Harry forgiving Lucius of all people and trying to reduce the sentence so much. He just hurt too many of Harry's loved ones for that.
Other than that, I love the use of flash backs, until the present day when it's not a memory of Narcissa anymore, it's actually her. It's so endearing that she's waiting for Lucius on the other side as he's let out.
| Cheeky Slytherin Lass chapter 1 . 10/22/2017
I may not like Lucius that much as a character, but you humanized him here, and I could actually empathize with him.
I love that Lucius' happiness came from Narcissa. Even with Azkaban not using Dementors after the war, I can imagine Azkaban wouldn't exactly be a place where you have all these warm and fuzzy thoughts. But for his to be of her was so sweet. He could have wallowed in misery, but her memory gave him the strength to endure his punishment.
I love how you can work in flashbacks and make it feel so natural. It just flows perfectly and doesn't feel disjointed.
This is such a beautiful piece, and I love it.
| MaryandMerlin chapter 1 . 10/17/2017
I actually have tears in my eyes. You have punched me right in my little heart. I've never felt such sympathy for Lucius Malfoy and I just want to hug him. I'm glad that in the end he managed to survive long enough to be reunited with her. I've always had a soft spot for Narcissa and it's nice to see her in a loving, happy relationship with Lucius cause people tend to paint him in a nasty light. Beautifully written, beautiful story. Well done :D
| Cookies and Ink chapter 1 . 10/13/2017
After reading this I had to heave a sigh and just wait for a moment, for it all to sink in. I've always been a fan of this pairing and don't read enough of this so from the off, I was hooked.
The way you wove the flashbacks in was really masterfully done. To have such moments of beauty and warmth sandwiched between Lucius in a cell in Azkaban, you describe the cold and bleak nature of it so vividly that it made the flashbacks seem even lovelier and brighter if that makes sense.
This was romantic and sweet, but not overly so. They both still felt very in character, aloof and proud which is perfect.
In terms of concrit I've got next to none. There was one instance where you used it's instead of it was but honestly this was a joy to read.
Thank you very much for the pleasure.
| Maisie Malfoy chapter 1 . 10/12/2017
I've been reading about the lightside all day, and it was so nice to finally get some Lucissa.
The whole relationship between him and Narcissa is written so nicely here that I am a bit amazed. No one ever takes the time to get into what they're like once they put away their masks, and you've truthfully gone above and beyond on that.
Your imagery of Azkaban was splendid.
And that last line very nearly made me cry, and I'm not usually the type to do that. This was lovely and is going straight into my favorites.
| WritingBlock chapter 1 . 10/4/2017
Lucius is normally a character that I don’t like to write or read about, but I’m enjoying this! I love how you focus on the relationship he has with his wife and how strong it is. Like, I’m crying at the pure love and want that he is feeling.
I love how you write their interactions, as it’s a side that most people don’t really think about. They’re snakes, they have a mask for the public that they take off when dealing with one another. And this fic kinda embraces that and I love it! You did an epic job!
Some notes I took while reading through:
[…Azkaban Prison was a bleak home.] Is there a specific reason that you chose home? The imagery that this provokes gives me chills! I have actual goosebumps!
[In silk robes of periwinkle….] Is there a reason you chose this color? The first thought that popped into my mind reading this was, “Hermione was wearing robes of periwinkle at the Yule Ball. Conspiracy?”
[…his wife and son had escaped detention.] Detention or Detection? I was confused here. Is it detention as in getting put in the slammer? Or is it something else?
[He finally felt warm again.] I broke into a huge ass grin reading this part. I love it. This is like, a perfect ending!

Bloody wow! Woah. Thank you for writing this. Yes. Yes. Yes. Brilliantly done. I literally teared up. Love them.
