Completely unrelated but as Limerick90 mentionned what happened the Masquerade spy? I completely forgot about them and it was only on a reread that I did.
At first I thought they were the MC's mom who filled the CYOA and took the Vigilante path with Memory Death drawback or something like that, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're a random guy of which Grace 'graciously' gave them a Vial with Masquerade in it then mindcontrolled them.

Now that I'm writting it down maybe Pretender isn't the true pretender but it's actually the Masquerade cape masquerading as Pretender pretending to be Lee!

I wanted to leave this here, in case I was unable/unwilling to resubscribe to your Patreon, and have finished reading the most recent chapter of this story.

I won't deny, I love it. Loved it. Still do. I wish I could have the strength of will to write a story as long and detailed as you have done, preserver to the very end.

And then I saw the end.

And...I'm feeling...very empty.

It's the silly child in me that wanted Lee to...have his happy ending. Slay the monster, get the girl, settle his disputes in his own "Lee" Way, and roll credits.

By the way, I'm in full support of him and Taylor having their intimate moments.

But...damn man, however long I've been invested into reading, stopping, then re-reading this story again for these last few years...it's left it's mark in my own attempts to write fiction.

If nothing else...Thank you. Your work isn't the standard; it's become the Milestone that we amateur writers should aspire to achieve. I will save this story, reread when ever my computer doesn't have internet, and...should you continue the story in a decent time frame, (barring of course your stated hiatus for other projects) I will be waiting.

P.S. if that Character Grace is based on an actual person/family you know/have...tell her, from an irritated and petty Texan, she can go choke on her self-righteous attitude and die in a fire.

I've stuck with this story for a long time now. I'm hardly going to turn my back on it just because the plot has once again gone somewhere unexpected. It's increasingly difficult to find writers who stick to their guns, come up with new plots and follow them where they go. When you find someone whose writing surprises you, the right reaction is to watch carefully, not looking away.

Yet even so I'm sympathetic to some of the comments that others have made about feeling as though after following Lee all this way we're rudderless after the events of the past few chapters. One put it that we've lost our investment in Lee. I don't feel that. What I feel is the loss of Lee. Just like I felt we lost him when the Slaughterhouse managed to grab him. A sudden hole in the world opened up and sucked out the possibilities of a good ending.

I bring those up because despite everything else going on I keep thinking that there's something I missed in the reading, and we haven't seen the last of him, for all that Pretender is puppeting his body around.

At least I hope so. Because I liked the character of Lee. I trust the author to tell their tale. It's not much of a story if the author has to tell you the end before it happens, is it? Or if every scary scene is interrupted 'Princess Bride' style by Grandpa telling us that the hero doesn't die here. So I look forward to the next part when it comes. And thank you for continuing to share it with us all.

Them finding out about the Vial Heist this way was cathartic, because there's nobody I'd rather see raging about it than the Hate Sink.

Also, interesting how Alexandria chooses to look back at things. Very flattering, much justified.

So...Grace toggled her Blindspot ability to play Cauldron, huh? And...does she not know about The Neutral Party, same as how he doesn't know about her?

Honestly, I was half expecting Taylor to bust into the meeting and style all over Khione and/or Lee to just...wake up and take control back from Pretender. Which I did not expect to have been the one to nab Lee's body, that was a nice twist. All this does make me wonder what the hell Riley is up to, though. Especially seeing as how this kind of debunks the idea of Grace having been caught by Cauldron and turned to their control via Bonesaw Funtimes.
And...what the hell is the deal with the Masquerade Cape? For some time I thought she was a Nemesis that Grace made, but at this point Grace seems like a Nemesis option herself.
...that would actually fit, if both Lee and Herb had made a Nemesis, except they didn't remember that for story reasons/how that works. Or maybe it's simply not CYOA-related and instead people being jackasses.

Also, your choice for the flavor of Doctor Mother's first Vial may have been obvious, but it was nonetheless perfect. xD
