I've read a few fics where Harry cut Nick's head completely off. Usually, he did it with the Sword of Gryffindor but once he and his friends had to do a lot of research to find where Nick's corpse was buried, then sneak out of Hogwarts to go there, dig it up, and finished the job on it.

I've never read about Harry (or anyone) making Myrtle's death nicer either. It was very sweet.
